A curious girl experiments with her father’s putrefying corpse. An attempt at resurrection in Key West leads to an unusual meal. An evening with a babysitter brings forth an altogether different form of “Satanic Panic.”

Tim Waggoner calls Douglas Ford a “sinister surgeon with a night black scalpel,” and with this collection of stories, you’re invited to witness what happens when we cut up dad.

“A must-read that starts off with a bang and continues at the same fiery pace for which Ford is best known.” —Cindy O’Quinn, Bram Stoker Award® winning author

Another brilliantly disturbing collection from one of my favorite authors! The narrator, Georgia Theis, does a fantastic job of setting the moodiness and tone of each selection and of adopting a unique voice and/or accent for each character. The pacing is excellent and dramatic, making it easy to picture each horrific scene unfolding like a gorgeous, stinky corpse flower. My favorite stories were “Let’s Cut Up Dad”, “The Widow’s Tower”, Papa’s Night (or the Short, Happy Life of Elena de Hoyas)", and "Gatortooth Sam". I laughed, I cried, l gagged. What more could a horror aficionado want?

Creepy, Gory Fun

I had read Let's Cut Up Dad previously and I really enjoyed it. I had "a voice" for the stories in my head. Then, I listened to the audible narration and appreciated the choices the voice actress made. Georgia Thies made the stories her own and challenged my reading of them. If you enjoy audiobooks, I would recommend Let's Cut Up Dad.

I really enjoyed the narration

“Let’s Cut Up Dad! and Other Stories of Transgressive Madness” by Douglas Ford, is a fantastic collection of short stories that will take you on a thrilling ride you’ll never forget.

In classic Douglas Ford fashion, each story stands on its own, taking the reader on an unknown adventure chocked full of terror, humor, irony, intrigue and depth, that will leave the reader gasping (and guessing) until the final word.

From the nuanced horrors of the ordinarily mundane, such as in “Ladders,” “The Layover,” and “The Coat Closet,” (if each of these scenarios were indeed turned up past 11!) to the satisfying and cathartic, “Wonce Was a Woman,” and “The Revenge of Katrina Bloodspell,” to the genuinely terrifying tale of “Children of the Goat Man,” (a story which legitimately kept my mouth dry, and my gooseflesh raised,) Ford is a master of all things horror who will leave you shocked and questioning everything.

And of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the sinfully wicked titular tale, “Let’s Cut up Dad!” as well as the final story in the collection, entitled “What Finally Ended the Jessup Curse,” both of which will disturb, excite and entertain you in such a way that you will be left feeling conflicted about just what kind of person you are to enjoy such depravity, as you cheerfully encourage the main characters (when you’re trying not to gag, that is) to keep on pushing and pushing to see just how far things will go...

As both a horror fan and a lover of well-crafted storytelling, I thoroughly enjoyed this collection and highly recommend it!

A wicked ride that will terrify and entertain!
