My mother taught me one valuable lesson that I’ve used to get to where I am today. And where am I? Las Vegas.
Who am I? Well, that depends on who you are. To some, I’m the king. The judge, juror, and executioner. To others, I’m just another rich asshole who owns a few casinos.
But I own more than that. I own the strip and the streets surrounding it. I own this city, and it’ll have to be wrenched from my cold, dead hands before I hand it over to anyone else.
When I spot her, I don’t sense the desperation that wafts off the usual crowd. No, she has a loneliness that rivals my own, a sadness that I want to soak in, and a body made to sin with.
What was that lesson my mother taught me? Trust no one. The thing is, Charlotte is taking a wrecking ball to that lesson because every fiber of my being wants to trust this woman.

When you don’t want to be seen, find a crowded place and blend in.
That’s exactly why I came to Vegas. To not be seen. I figured with all the flashing lights, alcohol, drugs, people… no one would notice me.
But he did. And I don’t know how to get him to unsee me. Or if I even want him to.
This city was supposed to be my sanctuary, a place to forget who I am. Or should I say who I was? A place to let go of the past. A place no one would ever think to look for me.
It was supposed to be just one weekend. But now I think it might be so much more…
