Trapped beneath the ice. Hunted from above.

When a long-lost research vessel is discovered entombed beneath the Arctic ice, Peter Black is called into the shadows by the ship’s enigmatic billionaire owner. Aboard the icebreaker Ithaca, he joins a volatile crew bound for the wreck—each with secrets, and one with a deadly agenda.

Below the ice lies the Orpheus, a sunken tomb that was never meant to be found. What Peter’s team uncovers is no ordinary wreck, but the site of something far more sinister—something that should have stayed buried.

As betrayals fracture the mission and a phantom vessel closes in, Peter must navigate not just the crushing depths, but the looming specter of global catastrophe.

The eleventh Peter Black novel is a descent into terror, treachery, and the cost of redemption. Perfect for fans of Flynn, Greaney, Carr, and Thor.

The best Peter Black book yet. Could not put it down. Excellent listen. I highly recommend listening to this one.

from the previous books in the series-- almost like the authors had run out of ideas and decided to branch out into science fiction.
And I may have missed the answer to the question of who was in the photo standing next to the billionaire, or they never gave it, but it was seemingly such an important point that it was made twice so if it was revealed it was in such a throw-away fashion that I missed it. No, somehow, I expect the answer will be revealed in a later installment.
I also was left wanting in that the DC traitor was just forgotten and there was no price he had to pay for the deaths of almost 2 submarine crews because of his actions. Although, sadly, this seems to be too-close-for-comfort to how things play out in real life.
Then, I think back and realize that, but for an uncharacteristic mistake by Peter early on, and one he was seemingly aware he was making, that much of the mayhem would have not occurred.
I have really liked this series, and frankly, the previous book was my favorite in the series so this one was a bit of a letdown. It was stll worthy of lthe listen, but I am hoping it isn;t indicative of things to come.

It felt like a departure
