Loved it!!

Pirate lesbian princess!! What else description do we need!?! This story was so good. The original title was my first intro to this author and I have been hooked ever since. I love this author’s works and these two pirates are some of my favorite characters. The narrator is also fabulous!

Exciting pirate adventure, excellent performance!

The Pirate & Her Princess trilogy (Uncharted, Unbroken, Unleashed) takes you on quite an adventure as George and Lou (Pirate Captain Cinder) find each other after being separated for many years. Their lives have gone in very different directions and they are quickly embroiled in political intrigue at every turn. They find themselves up against very powerful enemies as they embark on far-reaching adventures across the sea with so many surprising twists and turns I lost count and just held on for the ride. I was on the edge of my seat as they were tossed from one adventure to the next in their quest to find safety, security, and to build a life together and keep those close to them safe. When the pirates are the heroes up against various forces of evil you can bet you are in for some harrowing sea voyages and battles that will keep you on your toes from beginning to end.

There is some violence, but it is not excessive. This centered in an extremely misogynistic world and there is kidnapping, child abuse, death of a parent, death at sea, murder, violence, etc.. This lesbian romance fades to black, but the world is very homophobic.

Emily Woo Zeller is absolutely fantastic in her performance with characters across the spectrum. She flawlessly moves between easily-distinguished characters and pulls you into the story. I believe I enjoyed this book even more due to the performance. Excellent casting!

A Swashbuckling Sea Adventure

This was my first experience with this author's work. On the whole, I was entertained by the three books which comprised this box set; however, at times, I was frustrated by the characters. I enjoyed the descriptions of life at sea, and my imagination danced on the waters as the ship plowed through the waves. I understood Georgina's desire not to be a princess, but for all the struggles in her life, she remained very naive throughout the series. I liked Captain Cinder who learned the hard way to survive, but I didn't always understand Lou, whose sound judgement was often questionable when it came to Georgina. I thought Emily Woo Zeller's narration was lovely, and her performance enhanced the entertainment of the box set. I was given an advanced listener's copy of the audiobook by Ear Candy Promos. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

The story beat the fantasy.

I liked the idea of a pirate and a princess, but it felt so rushed. I loved the side characters. I could imagine watching a movie. W Emily Woo Zeller, I thought I recognized her voice as Panam from Cyberpunk 2077. I was right Lol.

Book 1, getting to know George was fun, but watching her turn from a noble, to a princess, to a victim to be saved happened within the blink of an eye. I didn't get the chemistry between George and Lou, mainly it felt like there were skipped steps in the romance. It's only later when we hear from George that she was always into women, rather than actually developing some kind of interest for Lou, because it goes from "It's my old friend!" to begging her to fuck her. All I knew before the fire was lit, was that George disliked that Lou killed people, and George wanted to leave. At what point was there a moment, before the confrontation, to be like "I want to get closer to Lou" besides all the looks of longing and horniness.

Other than that, Book 2 was much more interesting to me, learning more about Lou's perspective. It was only in this book that I found George to be more unbearable. Lol. Maybe I just don't like her character. I loved the bond between Lou and Maro. I even thought that they had way more chemistry.

Book 3, I guess it ended in a way I was happy with. I honestly could care less for the politics of Redmere.
