Q.B. Tyler
I was only four years old when I experienced the worst day of my life.
When I watched my father take his last breath at the hands of someone else.
Instead of letting the hate consume me, I found a safe haven in the arms of the only person who understood, our shared trauma bonding us in a way that taught my heart that I was incapable of ever loving anyone else.
And over the years, our codependency transformed into something deeper.
Something forbidden.
Something no one would accept.
Because how could I explain that the man that I've been in love with for almost 20 years was once the six year old standing next to me on the worst day of my life: my stepbrother.

It’s not an age gap like most of her other books, but the raised-together step-siblings element really pushes this up there as one of her most taboo stories. And there’s no third-act breakup (we love to see it), which automatically earns points from me.
It is a bit lighter on plot than some of her other books. They spend a lot of time just the two of them, alone, which was fine — but I did miss a little something because I actually enjoy the balance she usually strikes between absolutely filthy smut and a solid plot. This one leaned heavier on the smut.
Either way, I regret nothing. I’m very glad I dropped everything I was reading to pick this up, and it is absolutely going into my Q.B. Tyler rotation for when I need something guaranteed to deliver.
Hot. Damn.
