More Than Just Battles

I expected a straightforward military biography, but this audiobook goes deeper into political themes and institutional decline. Some readers looking only for battle tactics may find parts reflective, but I personally appreciated that broader perspective.

Entertaining story, fast paced

The early battle chapters are exciting, especially the Nika Riots and Italy campaign. The historical insight is solid, but I wish the book extrapolated more at some points. Overall, a good introduction to an important but often overlooked general.

This audiobook provides a strong overview of Belisarius’s life and campaigns. The story is dramatic and engaging. At times, the focus on loyalty and institutional decline feels overemphasized, but it does give the book a unique perspective.

Entertaining, Motivating, and Educating Biography

A gripping and well narrated biography on one of Rome's most important generals. Belisarius deserves much more recognition than is normally given to him.

Also, his life story is a powerful reminder that loyalty and excellence dont always protect you.

Bite-Sized and Informative Biography

I enjoyed this second instalment of your Roman Generals series more than the first one (Agrippa). It went into a lot more detail of why Belisarius was such a great general, while still keeping the audiobook at a good runtime.
