Nestore Romano was achingly beautiful. A cruel, dark prince who only smiled when he could break his broken princess. He was destined to rule over his kingdom. It was his birthright. His indisputable fate until my father betrayed his oath and locked him into a cage to torture and humiliate. It was the end of Nestore. It was his rebirth too. I witnessed both.
He hated my last name for everything my father had done to him and his family. But me…
…me he hated for a single act—running away.
Amelia was the light in my eternal darkness.
Until she wasn’t.
Until she betrayed me like every other Lamorgese. I wouldn’t let her escape. I couldn’t, not when she was the only anchor to something I’d lost. My last salvation.
She would become my wife. The unwilling princess at my side.
I never wanted to make her pay for the scars that her father had left.
No, I would make her pay for breaking my heart.

This book explains why he is the way he is and it all makes sense. The bond between the two main characters is dark, twisted, and beautiful. Cora has done it again! She always makes me love her characters when I think I want to hate them.
Epic trauma bond!

and Kamora mafia. Her stories kind of went down a bit when we started hearing about the children of the original characters. Didn’t really sound as top nauseous or earlier books. This book had great promise in the beginning. Plus, I’ve been waiting so long to hear some more of her stories. I know she quit writing for a while because she was writing about a deaf character, I believe. And she got so much flack that she didn’t release the book. I think it would’ve been an excellent book. But this book is just weird and not in a good way. It had parts that were very promising and then it would go to extremely bizarre behavior, such as wearing bones of his murder victims as a crown and while they may have deserved being murdered, it just was unbelievable. Including him, having @ s@x with his wife for the first time, in public and without preparation, was just not believable. And really didn’t seem to fit in the story. It just wasn’t her best story for sure. In my opinion. I still love her books generally and will continue to read her stories. However, this is not one that I’m going to listen to again or recommend.
