But I'm an auditory learner. I have to hear and repeat the language to make it stick. In fact, when I was a teenager taking language classes, I would often make my own (cassette) recordings and study for my tests by listening to them.

Easy, flexible, and actually sticks

Felt really natural to listen to, especially compared to more rigid language courses. The way the phrases are repeated and spaced out made it easy to follow along without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. What stood out was how practical everything felt. Instead of random vocabulary, it focused on real-life situations you’d actually use, which made it easier to stay engaged and remember things. It didn’t feel like “studying,” more like casually picking things up over time. The narration made a big difference too, clear, steady, and paced in a way that gives you time to repeat without pressure. It works well even if attention drifts in and out.

Kenji Meno is an amazing narrator. It works perfectly while driving or doing chores. The practical chapters keep me engaged. Five stars easy.

You can totally play this audiobook anywhere - all day, and pick up Japanese little by little. Very cool concept.

This audiobook is perfect for auditory learners like me. Kenji Meno says each phrase at normal speed, pauses for you to repeat, then slows it down clearly before another repeat chance. It's incredibly effective for nailing pronunciation without stress.
