The first dramatized audiobook in the New York Times best-selling Lost Fleet series!

The Alliance has been fighting the Syndics for a century—and losing badly. Now its fleet is crippled and stranded in enemy territory. Their only hope is a man who's emerged from a century-long hibernation to find he has been heroically idealized beyond belief....

Captain John “Black Jack” Geary’s exploits are known to every schoolchild. Revered for his heroic “last stand” in the early days of the war, he was presumed dead. But a century later, Geary miraculously returns and reluctantly takes command of the Alliance Fleet as it faces annihilation by the Syndics.

Appalled by the hero-worship around him, Geary is nevertheless a man who will do his duty. And he knows that bringing the stolen Syndic hypernet key safely home is the Alliance’s one chance to win the war. But to do that, Geary will have to live up to the impossibly heroic “Black Jack” legend....

Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects, and cinematic music!

Performed by Marlon Dance-Hooi as Narrator, Gerald Hill as John Geary, Zura Johnson as Tanya Desjani and Kymberley Cochrane as Victoria Rione. dialoge for this book reads as: captain the ships are advancing at a high speed. got it Ensign so what you are saying is that they are going fast? yes sir they are going fast. At one point the co president says the ship is i can't find the word for it its hard but breaks easily. then the main charater goes brittle your saying the fleet looks strong but a hard strike would shatter it. I hope this isnt a theme for the rest of the series. writing down to the reader is a bad look

got a bad case of over explaining.

incredibly simply and basic space "strategy" story. I hope this is intended to be a Young Adult story.

beginner SciFi perhaps YA?

I'm a huge fan of this series and have listened to all of these books many times. I was excited to see that the decision was made to produce a dramatized performance of this great story. I see other people have complained about the addition of sound effects, which I do not understand since that along with the ensemble cast is the whole point of a dramatized recording like this. However, it suffers from unforgivably poor performances that seem to mostly be the result of a total lack of direction. The voice actors clearly do not have any context for the lines that they are reading. They do not understand how what they are saying fits into the story. They give emphasis to the wrong words and concepts, and have deliveries that are either flat or have emotion and emphasis that is inappropriate for the scene. The voice performances often do not fit the characters. For example, the Marine colonel sounds laid back and mumbles her way through conversations with her fleet commander. Names are pronounced differently by different characters. Mispronunciations of basic terms and names are left in the recording. It's almost as if no one sat down and listened to this before they published it. I am really shocked at how bad this is, especially considering how expensive it must have been to put this together. The stands in stark contrast to the excellent performance given by Christian Rummel, a performance that almost anyone who buys this recording will have already heard at least once. The publishers must have known that this performance would be compared against his, and the comparison is extremely unfavorable

Terribly directed performances

I couldn't get past all the audio effects. They were a constant distraction and poorly acted.

over produced
