A tremendous audiobook!

I always love what Mary Mecham puts out, and this story really pulled me in! This story truly is an inspiration, and I love how Mary took inspiration from her daughter for this story, and I even got to learn more about intellectual disability and how to better approach it! I also got to learn how to see red flags in an emotionally abusive relationship, and Mary did an excellent job at making me hate the prince! This retelling was so good, and the chemistry between Snow and Malcolm was spot on, and Oliver was such a grand character I got to know about! I am so happy I finally got around to this story, and I encourage everyone to give it a chance! There’s a lot you can learn from it while also enjoying it at the same time!

Excellent read and interesting take on Snow White

This book was SO GOOD! I really loved how Mecham showed the difficulties from multiple POVs of caring for someone with a disability; from caregiver burn out to other family members struggling to assist the main caregiver to how people who are not familiar with disabilities may struggle to know the best ways to associate and assist. I loved the compassion Snow showed and her desire to learn how to be a true friend to both Malcolm and Oliver.
The narration was incredible. I could tell Tawnya really spent time trying to truly get the spirit of how Oliver was supposed to speak. It truly fit the speech of those I've associated with and I could tell she was being respectful to these sweet souls.
I adored everything about this book except how much of a people pleaser Snow tended to be. There were multiple characters I really wanted her to slap at multiple points. However, the ending was definitely satisfying enough to make up for the frustration.

I Love this Retelling

This book has what I feel is a wonderful representation of what a Severe Intellectual Disability can look like. Mary used her own daughters as inspiration. That being said I need to comment on the amazing job that Tawnya did on this narration. There is a character who doesn’t speak clearly and she brought a wonderful voice to him and did a fantastic job bringing Mary’s book to life. This Snow White retelling focusses on Snow White and what happens more after she awakens from the poisoned apple. Though we do meet her and see her adventure before the poisoning. Mary has expanded Snow’s story to show what happens after the HEA of the fairytale we know.
