Why is it so difficult to collaborate with that one coworker? Why can't your boss understand where you're coming from? We all want to experience a healthy, flourishing work environment, but interpersonal conflicts and miscommunications often make work feel frustrating, overwhelming, and maybe even toxic.

With the Enneagram as her guide, Joey Schewee provides a holistic, empowering approach to relating to one another in the workplace, as she helps you foster behavioral consciousness through awareness of motivational differences. She provides practical explanations of a dynamic wisdom for immediate application using anecdotes gained from fifteen years of consulting in professional environments. Drawing from her work with thousands of employees and hundreds of teams, Schewee introduces new concepts such as processing centers, reference points, and focus shifts, Enneagram advancements shared in this book for the first time.

In When Working Together Doesn't Work, you'll learn how differing motivations or types can affect employee cohesiveness and productivity; how managers can engage individuals by type, so that employees feel understood and valued; and how to significantly reduce the perception of personal slights and pave the way for understanding, trust, and collaboration.

It is rare that I write reviews. In this instance, I am inspired to share how much I loved this book about Enneagrams and the immense value that it will bring to anyone, whether already well-versed in Enneagrams or completely new to this wonderful tool. It is beautifully constructed, including crystal clear descriptions of each Enneagram type, perfect anecdotal stories, and suggestions for better understanding and communicating productively with each type. Her writing doesn't just inform; it resonates with a clarity that distinguishes her as a leading voice in the Enneagram tradition. It is a must read to anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of the Enneagram, how to better understand ourselves and others and how to work together more effectively in all environments. It is thorough, compassionate and a gift to the growing Enneagram community. Its unique format and incisive writing engages the listener beginning to end. The beginning of each chapter and the use of how an individual of each type is perceiving themself versus how they are likely to be perceived leads into each beautiful chapter. And though the specific content is addressing Enneagrams in the workplace, it is entirely applicable to anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of the Enneagram. This author has a unique gift for making important distinctions and clarifying many of the behaviors that show up and the motivations at play. Her easy to listen to narration of this book is simply excellent. Beyond listening to this book, which I trust I will do more than once, I highly recommend researching her participation in any one of the podcasts she has been a part of. The author, Joey Schewee Stabile, daughter of Suzanne Stabile, (Enneagram Godmother and beloved in the Enneagram World), is a seminal author and expert and has written what has become my favorite Enneagram resource.
