i loved these two!

I loved this book but listening to it by these two narrators was even better. They each did a great job showcasing the "dislike" to love that the main characters felt for each other.

A satisfying listen and a solid story

I originally read this as an ebook and the rating was a four-star but as an audiobook so much better. I connected more woth the story listening to it. It's a sports romance that is messy in a good way. It hits all the feels. And the characters were lovely. I liked the story, the plot, the characters and how it all came together. From one chapter to the next I was hooked on the narrative. It's an engaging listen with loads of banter. The narrators delivered a stellar performance narrating this. Wren Ross and Kai Kennicott were perfect to voice the characters. The emotions and the personalities of the MMC and FMC were expressed perfectly by these narrators. Overall, this is an satisfying listen and a solid story. I highly recommend grabbing a copy of this audio. It's a very good book. Thanks to the author for a copy of this. All opinions are my own and freely expressed.

Sweet, Flirty, and So Well Narrated

I absolutely loved this audiobook. The narrators truly nailed the duet performance, bringing the story to life in such an emotional and fun way.

The story itself is flirty, engaging, and filled with great tension and banter between the characters. Camden calling her “River” as a pet name was such a sweet touch—I loved that detail.

I also really appreciated the overall storyline and the ASL representation, which added meaningful depth to the book.

I don’t personally have any triggers, but I’d still
recommend checking content warnings beforehand. If cheating isn’t something you enjoy in a story, this might not be the right fit for you.

I was given an advanced copy for review, this didn’t influence my thoughts.

Fresh Take On a Familiar Trope

Going Deep by Sophie Andrews really stood out to me because of the depth the author gave the MMC, especially when a huge loss occurs and brings out so much more emotion and dimension in his character. It was a meaningful reminder that there is more to life.

The brother’s-best-friend trope is one that has been used many times, but the author did a wonderful job weaving it into a story that felt fresh and engaging. I was completely pulled in and found it hard to put this book down, which made for a fantastic ending.

I also enjoyed the duet-style narration, which added to the listening experience. That said, while the narration was good overall, the voices did not always feel like the best fit for the characters.

Finally!

Finally a good author. One who is up with the times, whose characters reflect the times! Who can do a trope but deviate! An author who is actually funny and not forcing funny quips from the insufferable quirky wild friend. My god. The fmc is a whole woman. She is funny and has realistic reactions and is strong but still vulnerable. Christ, I’ve been waiting for an author who is good at writing and has her own voice.

Great narration choices as well. Not sure how to explain it but it is actually like an audio play. Its dual narration expanded. Character voices interrupt narration and other characters. Sound effects are actually expressed as the narrator is speaking. Idk. I’m into it.

Jesus I needed this. Romance got so freaking stale and even anger inducing.
