The town of Hunters Creek was remote. Buried in the deep woods of central Ontario, it was the home of Saint John's Chapel. The parishioners were few, but faithful. And they were fiercely protective of their parish priest, Father Jacob.
Brother Phillip, a young and socially awkward twenty year old student from seminary school was sent to help Father Jacob with his duties and to mentor under the elderly preacher. Phillip's introduction to Hunters Creek was as awkward as himself, and his arrival at the chapel was just as bad.
There was a secret at Saint John's Chapel. A secret that no one knew except for a select few. There was something evil there. Father Jacob would not talk about it, and Mrs. Fitz, the housekeeper, was terrified of it. Phillip knew nothing about it. But he would become all too familiar with it before too much time passed. How do you deal with a demon living in the basement? The priest's hole down there was a place that no one had entered for twenty-five years. Those who did go down there never came back the same. Some never came back at all.
