The road that leads one to their destiny is said to be predetermined. Two people, Cathy & Johnnie, begin on that same road with hope, but the twists and the turns of life force them to pursue different avenues. Will destiny be their friend, or will destiny destroy them? From their beginnings in the East End of London to the shores of Hong Kong, against all odds, the two struggle to obtain their goals and to rise above prejudice in the 1960’s. The story begins in London in 1960 when Rita ( a girl of 18) gets pregnant after a one night stand. Johnnie (in love with another - Cathy) is forced into a loveless marriage with this girl, since having a child out of wedlock was taboo and he did then, the honourable thing, and married her. Cathy, devastated to hear of his forthcoming wedding, harbours untold secrets of her own. After twenty years of both making their own ways in life, Johnnie & Cathy meet unexpectedly again in the East End of London at the funeral of a dear friend.
