Connection

One of the best things about this audiobook is how it takes an important idea and presents it clearly and effectively. The themes feel relevant without becoming overwhelming or overly complicated.

Great story of murder, power and betrayal

This book has everything - cartels, a power struggle, murder, a mystery and betrayal. Papo is groomed to take over his father's cartel when he dies. Only 1) his father is murdered while he's still in training 2) there's no clear line of succession as he and his brother vie for control and 3) there is a secret underground force working to overthrow them both. I won't spoil the who and the how, but it's a very detailed and interesting story. My ONLY complaint is that the story takes place primarily in Central/South America and Africa, yet the narrator is clearly British. This threw things off for me a bit, especially in the beginning. Typically the voices in audio books are somewhat correlated to the characters, and there are different voices (whether portrayed by the same narrator or not) for different characters. Everything in this book is one voice, which means I have to pay a lot more attention to figure out who is who and what is going on. But the story itself is great.

A Dark Gripping Listen

This story had me interested from the start with its mix of tension, mystery, and the sense that every character has something weighing on them. I liked how the plot builds slowly but never drags, and the way the debts and secrets unfold kept me guessing. Noel Fuller’s gritty and believable narration fits the tone perfectly. Some scenes get pretty intense, but it all works for the kind of story this is. If you enjoy dark thrillers with a strong narrator, this one’s worth the listen.

Everything counts

I love crime thrillers. I liked all the twists and turns in this. It really kept my attention wondering what was going to happen next because nobody is safe and power can cost you everything

Heartfelt

This was a heartfelt story with meaningful themes. The narrator does an amazing job of bringing the characters and emotions to life. It’s an uplifting and memorable listen that reminds you how even small actions can make a big difference. Highly recommended!
