While Alex is on the run, he still get to be an investigator. Fun plots and intrigue abound with a little bit of major plot arch development.

It would be nice to have more for the major plot, but it is I detective series.

Thirteen books in and still good.

Throughout the series, there have been many rules established about the way magic works, but then it gets changed with no explanation. Before this book it was minor, like when Alex initially had a waste water tank in his vault, but in the next book the water dumped into the inter-dimensional void. This book has two inconsistencies that I find to be major rule re-writes, one of them completely invalidates the ending of The Brothers Boom story.

Still great, but needs consistency
