I can’t decide if my new summer tenant—a devastatingly handsome hockey player and single dad—is the answer to my problems or the start of a new one.
When big-city developers threaten to buy up my small town, I need to save the rental cottage next door from demolition. I have a plan . . . until Daniel Sutton checks in.
Six-four, a face chiseled by the gods, and a body built by a career on the ice, I’m knocked sideways. He’s charming with me and adorable with his son. And when we touch, it’s electric.
But two things change everything. The pipes break in the cottage, and his agent calls. Before I can stop myself, I’m offering him a place to stay, and Daniel is offering me the answer to my problems. He’ll buy the cottage for me if I help him clean up his reputation.
Sounds simple enough. But when I start to fall in love with him, even though I know he’s leaving in a few months, it’s suddenly more complicated than ever.
I’m willing to take a chance on us and pour my heart into a letter. But with him skating on thin ice, he’s going to have to sacrifice something—me or his career.
I just hope XOXO, Summer isn’t the last thing I ever get to say to him.

STORY ⇒ I "read" an ARC of this story way before the author so graciously provided an ALC and to say that I must have had joy radiating from my entire body from beginning to end is not even a little bit of an overstatement. I'm going to make three off-the-cuff statements I think best describe my experience. You ready?
Easy like Sunday morning.
Sunshine on a cloudy day.
Killing me softly.
The ease in which I fell into the story and remained "in it" was a thing of beauty that I honestly wish would happen more often than it does. The story was never not hopeful and uplifting and the love of it all was just easy even when it wasn't. Sit with that for a second. These two didn't just grow for each other in the story but also for me, in my heart and soul. I can't explain it. It was an extraordinarily beautiful thing.
There's a feeling of contentment, love & hope throughout every plot-point and circumstance. You can easily flip this story and make it much more "dramatic" than it was, but Summer deserved this kind of story and I am so proud of SL Scott for telling it like this. This woman keeps impressing me tenfold with every book she releases. You guys should really have her on your radar.

The story begins with Summer going to welcome a new tenant, Daniel Sutton, and his son, Roman. Little does she know that Daniel is a professional hockey player who comes across very arrogantly and even though she is intrigued by his good looks, he rubs her the wrong way. She is immediately on the defense with him and because she knows nothing of his profession his innuendos and comments go right over her head. The banter between is funny and kind of cute as they both try and hide their interest in the other. There’s much more to the story that you’ll have to read or listen to the audio version to find out. It’s a great summer read and it will leave you smiling and wanting more.
This should be your #1 Summer listen.

Summer and Daniel's story is pretty sweet. He's a professional hockey player with an 8 year old son. She's lived in her small town for her entire life and works in hospitality. She wants nothing more than to get out on her own, but that is all wound up in what her employer plans to do with the rental properties.
There are 4 sisters and I expect an underlying thread to reveal some long-kept secrets by the time the series wraps up.
Easy to read.
