Like it, but Narrators or Writing?

I'd listened to the first two books in the story and thought they were great, with good narration. I'd been anticipating Enzo's story and very excited to see my favorite make narrator, Joe Arden, would be the voice of Enzo. I'm not sure if it was the authors writing or just the way the it was narrated. At times it felt like Joe was reading the book the book verbatim instead of really getting into the character like he always does. While other parts he was very in character.
As for the FMC I felt she got very annoying and over acted parts... I was not a fan of her in this book. Overall the story was decent, but it was a combination of the writing and narration that made it a book that fell a little flat for me. It was a cliff hanger and since I invested a credit in the first one, I'll eventually listen to the second book, when it comes out. I hope the narration gets better, especially the FMC. I don't normally write reviews, unless somehing really throws a book off for me.

Love me a good cliffhanger.
When I first read these books, I was unaware they were cliffhangers, but now I feel a little less shocked going into the books!
Lola is on the run. Her dad was not a good man and now that he is gone, she has to hide so the bad men don’t find her to help repay his debt.
Enzo is her enemy. Her new boss. And the man who has been stalking her and keeping her safe without her knowing. But keeping her safe and falling for her as her stalker was not part of the plan.

This story is great and I have loved listening to it! So glad I got hooked into this universe!

Wrong number but I am obsessed with you too

Sweetly Obsessed was such a fun listen, and I loved Enzo and Lola’s story.

One of my favorite parts was watching Enzo realize his playboy facade was not holding up anymore. Lola is the one person who gets under his skin, shares his preferences, wrecks his control, and makes him feel things he was not ready for.

And the red flags? Fantastic.

Enzo’s way of inserting himself into Lola’s life is the kind of train wreck you know is coming, but you can't look away from. I loved watching these two move through every version of their relationship.

Childhood best friends. Abandonment. Enemies. Lovers. Somehow enemies again. Their chemistry kept me hooked the whole time.

Lola was such an easy FMC to root for. Life has not dealt her an easy hand, but she keeps going no matter what gets thrown at her. Savannah Thomas gave her the perfect mix of attitude, hurt, and backbone. I loved how much personality came through in her performance especially the scenes when she gives it back to him and then is backpedaling because she really does need the job. 

Joe Arden as Enzo/Alex was so entertaining. You can literally hear the smirk in some of his line delivery. The way he plays Enzo like he is enjoying every second of testing Lola’s limits made this audiobook so much fun. He brought out such a broad range of dynamics with the multiple/ hidden identity with Alex and himself. The way that he spoke to her was so delicious, and you had these moments where Lola was totally caught off guard I was like, "girl same"

Together, Joe Arden and Savannah Thomas made the back and forth between Enzo and Lola easy to get lost in. The banter, the frustration, the history, and the heat all came through so well in the audio. I loved listening to the plot unfold and the moments where they both were so into each other and fighting it was epic. I can't wait to listen to book two.

top notch banter

The banter through the wrong number texts is top notch. But then you have the tension of a childhood crush that turned sour. The toxicity of it just keeps you reading.

Enzo is voiced by Joe Arden and he does an amazing job if capturing the crazed obsession that Enzo has for Lola.

Savannah Thomas voices Lola and all her facets so well.

I can not wait for the next book!

This is book 3 in the Devoted in Darkness series and phewww this one was addictive!!

This is a dark romance with boss × employee, enemies-to-lovers, hidden identity, stalker vibes and a morally gray MMC.

The FMC is witty, independent and completely unaware that the anonymous man she’s been texting has been connected to her life for years. Watching her slowly fall for someone she’s never met while navigating her complicated relationship with her boss made this story so much fun!
The MMC??? Whew 🥵. He’s the son of a mafia man & wants nothing to do with that life. Instead, he hides behind a keyboard as a brilliant hacker. He’s been quietly watching over the FMC since childhood after their fathers had a falling out and while his methods are definitely morally gray (yum), his obsession with her had me giggling.
Every reveal landed perfectly and I loved watching all the pieces come together. BUT HOLY CLIFFHANGER!!!

Also the spiiice🥵 Let’s just say Kira Cole knows how to write ‘em hotttt. The tension, the anticipation and the kink dynamics were delicious!

Savannah and Joe were amazing in this!!! They added so much deliciousness to the audio! I need the next one right now🤩😮‍💨
