A BIOGRAPHY OF MALCOLM DINGWALL MACKAY

From Glasgow, a city built to worship football, out of the East End there came a big man, Malky Mackay Senior.

At the tender age of nineteen he was hunted by several premier Scottish and English clubs including Rangers, Celtic, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest but he decided to sign for Queen’s Park FC – and stay there! He remained an amateur player over his long career, also representing Scotland and Great Britain. After his playing days, he continued to nurture and promote the careers of young players and serve the Club he loved.

At the Club’s Centenary Dinner to celebrate 100 years of playing at Hampden Park, one of the guests, Denis Law, also known as ‘The King’, sought him out and obtained his signature on the invitation card.

In 2015, Malky was awarded an MBE ‘for services to Football in Glasgow’ so... find out why this modest man got a gong from the Queen and why ‘The King’ had turned up twelve years earlier to ask for his autograph!
