Some people volunteer at animal rescues because they love dogs. Others do it because they need community service hours. I did it because I genuinely wanted to help. Naw, I did it for both. Dogs don’t disappoint.

This is the story of fifty volunteer hours that turned into employment. Employment that somehow turned into months of trying to get paid. Which then turned into wage claims, retaliation complaints, investigations, and enough stress to make a saint consider switching careers to lighthouse keeper.
