About this listen

I am not supposed to exist—my parents murdered for their forbidden union. I’m a creature born of light and dark, of Heaven and Hell, and it's up to me to hold these fragile worlds together. And I’m back here, where I never thought I’d be, surrounded by devastatingly handsome males who’d give their lives for me. And all I want to do is go home, back to earth, but the balance has been threatened and I’m the only one who can set it right.

Who’d have thought an aberration like me would be the chosen one? I must learn to control my unruly powers so we can fight our enemies and uphold the scales...only everything in us is trying to pull us apart. I need my mates to win this battle, and my heart wants them for completely different reasons, but will we succeed or will the balance be shattered forever?

This story absolutely had me hooked right from the beginning. Atalante, or Lana as she prefers, never has fit in. It might be the fact that her eyes are each a different color, or that her hair is black on one side and white on the other, or it could be that she is the only demon and angel hybrid ever to be born.

I listened to this one on audiobook and I absolutely loved everything about it. The narrators did a wonderful job of being the story to life and I loved the duet narration.

I loved this story so much, and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

3 star listen

Good start to a series, looking forward to the next instalment. It is written quite differently to the other rh audio books I’ve listened too. Fated mates with Insta love due to the mate bond. Even tho one has been in her life since she was born. I’m not sure I’ll understand that but let’s see how it goes. This one ends in a decent hook.
Audio narration fits the book well.

Balance Threatened

well, I got to say this is a really good start to a series. It been a while since I listened to a good Angel and Demon 😈 book. so one girl and 4 mates, but one mate is bad, but is he really 🤔 hmm I wonder. But I do think that mate is going about it the wrong way. will her other mates find her or will she be kept away from them all? 🤔 😕 what will happen? I guess we just have to wait and find out in the next book.

Great world-building, fun read!!

Angels, demons, a magic academy and a reluctant heroine? What’s not to like here?! So much drama, danger, betrayal ... all the makings of a fun, twisty world.

💙 Detailed world-building.
⚖ Advanced character development.
💙 Magic.
⚖ Betrayal, lies, deceit.
💙 Lots of witty banter.
⚖ Angels.
💙 Demons.
⚖ So much scheming.
💙 Reverse harem.
⚖ Alternating POVs between many parties.
💙 Good vs. evil / balance struggle.

I always love a book where Satan and/or Lilith have big roles. Overall, the writing is good, I’m always up for a Jenn D. Young read! Overall: 4 stars.

Audio:
Bridget was amazing, as always. Jake could sound a bit robotic, not optimal. Together though, they manage to sound like a full cast—they make a great team.
The overall sound quality is perfect. 🦩 4 stars.

One problem!

I don’t like the fact that she gets put asleep for 3 years and the guys go on to party and have sex with each other. I loved the box other than that.

Mixed feelings

First of all narrators are amazing. I am always ready to dive into to anything they add their voices too because they are truly talented people! Had it been subpar narration I don’t think I would have finished this book.

The story line has major potential but the main character is a bit much. She’s lacking depth and acts more like an insolent child or a wishy washy one at best and there are parts that I skipped 30 seconds to a minute because she was back to oh I can’t but I want to but I can’t about certain characters.

I feel like the story line has amazing potential and a lot of first books in series have a slower pace as you set the back ground. I love the forbidden love that produces an offspring unlike the world has seen.

Hoping for more out of book two because there was enough here to make me want to see where it’s going.

Balance Threatened

Lana is 1/2 angel, 1/2 demon and had a rough time since losing her parents. He world gets turned upside when she comes into her powers and meets her fated mates. She is part of a prophecy that says she will help maintain the balance. There are tons of secrets surrounding who killed her parents, plus a mystery behind one of mates and his true motives. The performance of the narrators was absolutely amazing and helped enhance an already interesting plot. #TheFlockVIPReviewTeam

Good start to this PNR RH

So I went into this audiobook blind pretty much, only knowing it was a paranormal reverse harem romance. I liked how this story started, you werent sure what to expect but you knew the main leading lady was a feisty BA that could hold her own (and was not being treated nicely at “home” or at school). We get to meet two of her mates early on and they were very different from each other. I didnt like Gabe right off the bat, I appreciated Ezra from the beginning haha. We get to learn about some of her background when her powers start to manifest and she is taken to where her people are. Unfortunately things happen and she has to be put into what they think is a slumber for years because her powers were increasing too quickly and upsetting the balance. So this interlude felt a little off to me, like it make this book feel like it was 2 novellas together or had been a serial at some point before becoming a full novel. The flow felt weird/a little jilted. Also when she got out of her slumber and they realized what she had been experiencing she lets it go too quickly for me. I mean, if it were me I would be pissed and traumatized if that happened to me for YEARS.

Now things start really speeding up once we get to part 2 of the story. I liked the addition of the mates. I mean I felt kinda weird about one but once we get his perspective and how it manifested for him, it made me feel way better about it. The steam and group scenes in this book are 🔥🔥🔥. I loved the M/M mentions and flirting and some sexy moments haha. Its not overpowering, I hope there might be more in book 2, not gonna lie! I like Lucifer in this story too, the way he pops in and his attitude/snark with his son and some of the others. I don’t like all the secrets but it makes for a good storyline. I am on the fence about some of the other side characters, kinda take them or leave them. I am really intrigued how Lana’s powers will get once she ascends for the next time! I also loved how the new mate had no clue something was going to happen to him hahaha. I also am intrigued about the group dynamic, after one is more dominant in their group of 4 but the newest mate is gonna probably take that spot haha. Dueling Doms maybe hahaha. Already listening to book 2 because I needed to know what happened next!

Narration was done well in this one. I have listened to a bunch of their audiobooks before so I am very familiar with their performances. I thought Jake did a good job with all the accents, I thought Bridget sometimes with OTT with Lana so it sometimes didnt keep me in the story. I appreciated their emotional performances, especially when they had to say goodbye and some of the shocks no one saw coming. I think the 3rd mate and him coming to terms with everything was probably my favorite, the inner turmoil and angst and then embracing it and say WTH and just doing what he wants and loving Lana. 4/5 stars from me for the narration 😊

Hoping for a great series

This book has a lot of potential. Love all the men but the heroine has not shown us why she’s is the strongest and suppose to save the world. She’s hasn’t do much but give up herself in the beginning. When she wakes up, all I see is her trying to get with her mates. I don’t really see the chemistry with her and the men much but I am hoping for a better next book. Bridget and Jake did an excellent job at narrating
