Publisher's summary

"A compelling page turner, beautifully told." (Natasha Boyd, USA Today best-selling and award-winning author of Eversea)

"Heartfelt, relevant, and incredibly thought-provoking." (Natasha Is a Book Junkie)

From the national best-selling author of the Ten Tiny Breaths series and The Simple Wild comes a poignant coming-of-age story about a girl trying to change her future while evading her past.

Almost 16-year-old Aria Jones is starting over. New postal code, new last name, new rules. But she doesn't mind, because it means she can leave her painful regrets behind. In the bustling town of Eastmonte, she can become someone else. Someone better.

With the Hartford family living next door, it seems she will succeed. Sure, Cassie Hartford may be the epitome of social awkwardness thanks to her autism, but she also offers an innocent and sincere friendship that Aria learns to appreciate. And Cassie's older brother, Emmett - a popular Junior-A hockey player with a bright future - well...Aria wishes that friendship could lead to something more. If he didn't already have a girlfriend, maybe it would.

But Aria soon finds herself in a dicey moral predicament that could derail her attempt at a fresh start. It is her loyalty to Cassie and her growing crush on Emmett that leads her to make a risky move, one that earns her a vindictive enemy who is determined to splinter her happy new world.

Be the Girl

I don’t think the tears have dried from my face yet from this one. Such a good book and not what I expected at all. I went in blind like always and I don’t want to give anything away so I won’t say much more. Just that her presentation at the end was everything (and the source for many of those tears) It’s definitely my favorite K A Tucker read.

4 stars

This was a realistic read for me. Although this isn't my usual go to read, KA did a great job with the story. I also liked Katie's narration. I love the cover too!

Not a Typical K.A Tucker but a good YA

This book is not what I expected. It was very young adult. That being said I think it was a good book with an important message. I have a daughter and it’s going to be a must read for her.
If you go in reading the book as a young adult novel you won’t be disappointed.

Touching. Eye-opening

K A Tucker has written such an accurate, true consequences story of typical “normal/common” actions by adolescents and teenagers. AND especially of the deep hurtful reactions resulting. I highly recommend this story be read in school and by teenagers.

Takes me back

Definitely a good read. I love the narrator. This storyline is reminder to the damage bullying can do. It took me back to my teenage years.

Outstanding job by all!

I very much enjoyed the storey; it was well for a written & drew me in hard. A big part of that was due to Ms Schorr's read. Early in the book, I wondered if I wanted to stick with it as I could see the general outline of what was coming. The main character, AJ, was going to butt heads with the primary local mean girl & blah blah. But I stuck with it, in part because of K.A. Tucker but a BIG factor was Ms Schorr making the story alive for me. So thank you for a fun & fulfilling time.
