About this listen

The Dead Didn’t Rise on Their Own… They Were Sent.

At first, people called them “Z’s,” “Zekes,” “Skinbags,” “Meat Puppets.” The names spread across news feeds and social media, desperate attempts to make sense of the impossible. Then the world went silent.

Because this wasn’t just a zombie outbreak. This was an invasion.

The fall of humanity was swift—governments toppled, armies were crushed, and cities drowned under waves of relentless, inhuman predators. Now, what’s left of the human race clings to survival behind the barricades of the Florida Keys. But food is running out, and the infected are only part of the threat.

Finn and his team of soldiers are sent on a last-ditch mission into the heart of the infestation to retrieve a chemical weapon that might be their only chance. But what they find is worse than anything they imagined.

The Z’s aren’t mindless—they’re organized. And worse, they have allies. Some humans have chosen to side with the enemy, betraying their own for a chance to live. At the center of it all is Shaed, the terrifying and intelligent Queen of the Dead. She has a message for the last remnants of humanity:

Kneel… or be consumed.

Beyond the Wall

I would’ve given this review and much higher sky, where it not for the artificial intelligence narration I can’t give that more than one star Because it is after all artificially intelligence

The story line

The story line started a little boring but then picked up. I didn’t like the AI narrator. If the narrator would have been a real person the emotions of the characters would have been more interesting.

Good story but AI narrator made it bland

The premise of the story was interesting but the vanilla narrator was just lackluster. I couldn’t really get into the story because certain words were mispronounced and the tone never changed, no inflection. Tessa was my fav character and she had no words in the story.

Great story

I really like the story. Had a nice twist. I normally turn down stories that have virtual voice as a narrator. This virtual voice was really good until it came to a few points where it was trying to express surprise or sarcasm.

Good plot and the characters were interesting. I look forward to another book and to get to know the characters more.

Good story, mediocre voice

For zombie fans this is a great story. I have listed to at least two hundred zombie and apocalypse stories. The AI voice messes up and mispronounces too many words. And some of the fixes edited in are bad. But really great story. Can we just keep the human readers employed?

Great story

I really loved the book but the AI generated narration was just so comically bad

Going to have to read it.

Virtual voice has to go! No emotion, monotoned, and in some instances it was hard tell which characters were speaking. I’m sure this story is better than the garbage virtual voice made it seem. I tried to make it through the story out of respect for the writers work, but enough is enough.
