Publisher's summary

From New York Times best-selling author Wendy Corsi Staub comes the first in a terrifying new series set in a small town with a sinister secret.

The razor's gleaming blade slices effortlessly through skin and tendon, and he relishes the final anguished moments of his prey. There's only one thing he prizes more: their long, silken strands of red hair. But these women are merely stand-ins...a prelude to his ultimate victim.

Nestled in New York's Hudson Valley, Mundy's Landing is famous for its picturesque setting - and for a century-old string of gruesome unsolved murders. Rowan returned to her hometown years ago, fleeing a momentary mistake that could have destroyed her family. Life is good here. Peaceful. Until an anonymous gift brings Rowan's fears to life again.

The town's violent history was just the beginning. Soon everyone in Mundy's Landing will know that the past cannot be forgotten or forgiven - not until every sin has been paid for...in blood.

Meh...

Didn't love it ... Didn't hate it. A lot of schmaltz. Wish I didn't use a credit for this one.

Engaging story, not great execution

All the perspective switching makes it hard to follow the story. The narrator is fine, but every charachter has the same voice, again, making it hard to follow. I may give book 2 a try...maybe

Ok book

I’ve listened to several books from this author... for some reason this one was just difficult to get into and stay in it.

listened to all in one day

absolutely loved the first book of the new series. enjoyed learning about the complexity of the characters and how all of their lives intertwine. I especially like the small town setting and the eerie history placed throughout. although I thought I figured out the antagonist several times I was always wrong, it really kept me guessing until the end. I can't wait until my next visit to Mundy's Landing. amazing start to a new series!

Pretty good story

Good story but I got a little tired of the rehashing her thoughts over and over. Great plot line.

Not into it

I just couldn't get into this story and finally gave up at about chapter 8.

Nope. Wouldn’t read again!

I loved author’s first two books but this one was sooo boring. So much ch talking about stuff that had nothing to do with story or action.

Ugh.... Let it be over

Stab me in the eye with a pencil! This is an extremely slow moving book with far too much nonsensical detail. There is an underlying premise that would have made for a great story if the author would have focused on it rather than running down rabbit holes. Women are dying and the biggest thing she focuses on? What will my husband think of me because I kissed the neighbor guy 14 years ago! Seriously?
