Publisher's summary

Spirited and whip-smart, these laugh-out-loud autobiographical essays are "a masterpiece" from the Emmy Award-winning actress and comedy writer known for 30 Rock, Mean Girls, and SNL". (Sunday Telegraph).

Before Liz Lemon, before Weekend Update, before Sarah Palin, Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: A recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon - from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've always suspected: You're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Includes special, never-before-solicited opinions on breastfeeding, princesses, Photoshop, the electoral process, and Italian rum cake!

Editor's Pick: Best of the Decade

Tina Fey wears the pants
"I still remember the first time I listened to Bossypants in 2011. I was a recent college grad and my tastes were embarrassingly snobby, but I liked Tina Fey and thought it would just be soooo subversive to listen to a best seller. Imagine my shock when Bossypants showed me how much pure, uncomplicated joy I could get from a book. I never looked back. Before Tina Fey we had Carol Burnett, Lucille Ball, and Joan Rivers, but Bossypants came at just the right moment when the floodgates were opening for women in comedy. Its best seller status made Tina Fey a household name and paved the way for excellent (hilarious) memoirs that would follow by Mindy Kaling, Amy Poehler, Tiffany Haddish, Ali Wong, and so many more. Bossypants launched a cultural phenomenon. What I love best about Tina Fey’s book is her voice, both figuratively and literally. It's a joy to spend five and a half straight hours in her brain, hearing her perspective on comedy, career, and crushes gone awry. The audiobook's use of clips from Saturday Night Live was also revolutionary and elevated this memoir to a whole new level. No matter which comedy memoir I end up falling in love with next, Bossypants will always hold a special place in my heart as the first—and the decade’s best."—Rachel S., Audible Editor

Tina Fey is a comedy goddess. Seriously.

I loved her before this book and I love her even more now! This book was time well spent, and I look forward to listening again.

She's great

Oh Tina Fey how do I love you? Let me count the ways.
This is one seriously funny woman, who makes this biography great by reading her little inside jokes just like she meant them to be told. Better than the book because you get all the vocal inflections, and now I can see where the characters she writes gets their neurosis from. And I say that with the greatest admiration and love.

Fast-paced hilalrious peak into Fey's life

This book moves really fast! I just had a 6-hour road trip that felt like 2 hours because I blew through this book. Fey has a good voice for narration and spoke quite fast which helped push the flow of the audio book. I appreciated the background she gave into how 30 Rock came into existance how her Sarah Palin impersonation evolved into cult legend.
Fey doesnt pull any punches in this biography. Her self depricating personality shines through and illumniates her wit and crudeness.
Even if you dont see eye to eye with her more liberal views this book can be for every adult who lived thorugh the 80s.
Thanks Tina for your insight into feminisim in comedy!

Much more than expected!

It's earthy (as a guy I was a little embarrassed at times), thoroughly entertaining, which I expected, and surprisingly inspirational. Most of all it is wonderfully human, in the noblest sense of the word. I'm sure it would also be a good read but hearing it in Tina's voice with her timing raises it to a completely different level. If the occasional profanity for comic shocking effect does not offend you, I highly recommend Bossypants!

Goddess of comedy!

Tina makes me laugh endlessly. The women has a serious talent for snark, self effacement and cutting down the idiots of the world to size.
She cuts through society, politics etc with enough self deprecation for you know that's she not a brat she just honest and doesn't exclude herself from that honesty.
This book is a fantastic listen! It makes me actually laugh out loud every time and Fey's performance is spot on!

Interesting

The story of her life from her point of view was interesting and enlightening. I enjoy the narration by her. I learned from it as well. She's a good author.
