Great book

I really enjoyed this book and need to write something to leave a review since they changed it.

I really enjoyed the story can't wait till the next book is out. the author and the narrator did a very good job

The book is fun, but the fights are repetitive

The first book was very good, and this book mostly holds up to the promise of the first one. Nick is still entertaining, the lore and everything is still fascinating, and the performance is still great.

But damn the fight scenes are repetitive. The smaller fights are usually still interesting, mostly because they're more varied and end quicker, but the longer fight scenes are quite annoying, They all use the same twist/gimmick to spice the fight up: at some point nick is about to make a killing blow, but then, a new/old foe (re)appears to prevent the deadly strike just in time! It was fun the first few times, but then it kept happening and happening and happening with each (longer) fight scene.

Other than that, I wished Tarkin would've gotten a little more screentime. Despite all the set-up, he really doesn't play a big role in the book at all. But, to be fair, he did only just arrive and hasn't really gotten the chance to gain any strenght yet, so it's entirely possible he'll join more adventures later in the next book.

Also, come on, Nick, you're allowed to spent time with others, you know! You're allowed to make new friends with the people coming to your city, maybe find a girl/boyfriend while you're at it. I get that it's not the focus of the book, but he really does feel like he doesn't have any friends. Like, you'd think that at the very least he'd spent some significant amount of time with Tarkin, but he doesn't really. He just goes off to hunt alone, ocasionally returning to his city. Which is fine. Nick doesn't seem like the person to want to risk others with his own stunts, but he could at least spend some more time among his people when he is actually at home.

Those two things aside, I did really enjoy the book, and I'm still looking forward to the next one. But I hope the social aspect picks up a bit. A character in isolation just isn't as fun to read as to read.

Brutally Good

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the narration as always was great! This book truly doesn’t hold back to some brutal depictions of fights and I loved it.

Seems like there is a lot to unpack and uncover

How will book 3 turn out? Will Nick go back to his home world?
This book was good but left me confused at some points with having to remember the first book.

Really enjoyed the title.

This title is all fun never a dull moment in this fast paced adventure I really got to see where the mc stands in this one.

character development and world building.

I absolutely love everything about this series so far. I love how the trials and struggles that Nick goes through help shape who he is and that he still wants to help people even though it wasn't fair for him. I love that he wants power but uses it to protect others so they in kind can do the same for those around them. the imagery and laws of the world are phenomenal. can't wait for book 3!

I love this series. not as good as the first yet close enough to take my money.

Liked it but

OKay so this one feel less like an underdog story as the MC gained great gains after the end of the first one.
The things that bothered me will have some spoliers








- So we finally get Tarkin butt he is litteraly not important in the book which feels odd other than nick checking a box off on his list.
- The other side characters were just filler, I know we have an mc but I was hoping we get some characters we can invest in
- The biggest thing is the last part of the book when Winterhome is under attack. It all felt rushed and I am not sure why it was like that. The big boss battle they fought plus the Dhampir attack and nick evolution all happened at the same time.
I dont really know what Nick got after he evolved and what he looks like? Just a bigger form?
I think these event could have been spaced more and built up
