Publisher's summary

Holly and Hunter Harrison might appear to be the perfect couple - but looks can be deceiving.

The horrific death of Holly's parents left her feeling tainted and unworthy. As she longs to come out from under the stain of their sin, she is held back by the constant whisperings in her mind that never fail to remind her who she is and where she comes from.

Hunter cannot forgive his mother's adultery and vows never to be like his father - blindly accepted the sins of others. Fearful that they will fall into the same trap as his parents, he tries to control every situation, but his jealousy and judgmental attitude only add to Holly's feeling of unworthiness. As the years pass, Hunter's anger and mistrust grow, taking their toll on Holly and Hunter's marriage.

When handsome widower, Seth Hargrove, befriends the couple, he urges Hunter to let go of his anger, and reminds Holly she is more than her parents' sin. Will Seth be the key to reconciling Holly and Hunter and redeeming them from the disastrous path their marriage is on? Or will his friendship only lead to betrayal?

A good story with a lot of wisdom to unpack

Holly & Hunter have both been hurt by the sins of their parents and this has left them floundering in their marriage. Even though they truly love each other, these wrong ideas lead them into mistaken actions & reactions that put their marriage in danger. Much twisted information has bombarded their minds making them unable to respond to each other in a healthy way. Only as they look to their Creator for wisdom about how He designed them do they begin to heal.

I read this story several years ago. I requested a review copy of this title & am freely offering my opinion.

The narrator did a great job with the required voices & the pacing of the story. She truly added to my enjoyment.

Enjoyable Listen & Great Performance

Hunter keeps his wife on a very short leash. She is beautiful and he is haunted by his mothers infidelity. He does not want that for his marriage.

Holly feels shame and remorse, as well as resentment that Hunter does not trust her. She has never given him any reason to distrust her and she is approaching her breaking point. She has a devastating past but has never shared it with him because of his obsession with infidelity.

They become friends with a recent widower who is lonely. He becomes thrilled with both of them, Holly finds herself sharing things with him that she felt he could never share with her husband.

If I share any more events, it will give away important details and I don't want to spoil for the next parts.

The author really does make a listener think about what he or she would do if they found themselves if they were in the shoes of any of the characters.

My only quibble with this story is the constant repetition in the beginning. Also, the abundance of characters praying, which was slightly over-the-top, in my opinion.

I was given this copy in exchange for my review and I hope you find it helpful.

Julie Lancelot's performance is very good. Her narration told the story in a way that gave the characters and situations just enough of a voice to allow for me to imagine things.

Overall the book was a great listen. The narrator had a really good voice for it. The plot and characters were developed well, but could have been more. I look forward to reading more from the author.

A deep, sad story

This book was a little bit hard to listen to. The author seemed to repeat the happenings in the story, all of the sins of the fathers and mothers, being repeated by the children. The story shows how hard that marriage can be, especially when there is no trust. I liked that the story finally focused on God and what He can do if we will just let Him. The narrator, Julie Lancelot, did a really good job, giving her voice to the characters.
This book was given to me by Audiobook Blast in return for an honest and unbiased review.

Emotional Marital Romance Drama...

The two main characters have a history of verbal abuse. How sad the effectives of it that taint their relationships, their approaches to marriage and faith. The overwhelming insecurities, guilt, and miscommunications create a damaging pattern, but how lovely the redemption of it all.

Very emotional

--I was given a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review

The opening chapter of this faith based book had me hooked. I had to find out what was going to happen in this story. Holly witnessed the murder/suicide of her parents at the age of 16 after her father found out about her mother's infidelity. How would this effect her going forward? Hunter lived through the infidelity of his mother and what he thought was his father overlooking the sin. These two had many issues to get through, the first I found to be communication and fear of losing each other. I found Holly to be strong in some situations and immature in others. Hunter was extremely narrow minded and stubborn(just like a man!). I enjoyed the fact they dealt with real life situations and figured out a way to get through it.

Julie Lancelot gave a beautiful performance. This book was extremely emotional and you could feel each character's moods and emotions with her narration.
