What an ending!!

Couldn't put it down. I liked the first four Pendargast novels very, very much, but this one really stands out!! Can't wait to read the rest of them!! Ok - that's was long enough - "Dance Of Death" here we go!!!🎯

Terrific Story

I was completely engrossed in this story, so much so, I hurriedly went online as soon as it ended and purchased the next in the series, only to discover that I wasn't ever going to find out how Pendergast escaped and I didn't remember who had different colored eyes so there was no help there. I was so disappointed after starting the next book and discovering I was never going to know, I came back online and reduce my rating of the story from five down to one. If Pendergast weren't the mail protagonist maybe it wouldn't matter but in this story it matter. I am very disappointed that the book didn't develop a complete conclusion.

You must listen to this one. Excellent writing and narration. Excellent everything. Going to get the next in the series as soon as I finish this review.

this was a great story,really enjoyed it and it was my first intro to the FBI agent Pendegrasse.

Love Pendergast.
He’s a cross between Sherlock Holmes
and James Bond. His villains are vile but charismatic.
Excellently narrated by Mr Brick.

My 2nd favorite P&C

Only Still Life With Crows affected me more -- but on a personal and emotional level. Brimstone was good for many other reasons. Lots of terrific "what ifs," the always intelligent vocabulary, equal amounts of suspense and exclamations of "of course..." -- a little supernatural, but always human!

AXP and D'Agosta are not cut from any other cloth. Sure, there are the ridiculously convenient lucky breaks and Hand-of-God sort of things, but so what? The gracious nod to Wilkie Collins and Poe enlarged the other literary, musical, cultural and geography references making this an immersive experience.

This one differed (for the better) from some of the series for NOT including long, somewhat-boring chases in caves and tunnels. The chases occur above ground. Still there is enough going on beneath castles and mansions so that when you come up for air, the whole thing stays with you.

It's a feel good and a breath-holder. I read this out of order, so I knew the future effects and consequences this book would set up. But even knowing what was coming, the story and its pacing were so good, it did not matter.

Loved "Buck," and the authors' delicate handling of his well-intentioned but misled efforts. That character and his story border on political-religious "preaching." So subtly handled, the message and the warnings are kind and clear.

If there is a theme in all of this, that applies to every character, including AXPm it might be:

Get thee behind me, Ego!

Brimstone the 5th installment

Brimstone the 5th installment in the Pendergast series, covers people using superstition to influence people and personal gain. You have one villain using the devil to scare people and on the other side the other extreme a so called ' godly ' element. There is a fair amount of religion mixed into this book along with the usual dose of history and suspense.

I love these novels and this one definitely didn't disappoint. has me ready for the next in line.

Love a good Pendergast Novel

This was fantastic! I love these novels. This was the first time I had listened to one instead of physically reading it and Scott Brick did NOT disappoint. Very talented! No complaints here!!
