About this listen

Why does the mysterious Mr. Washington slowly demolish a house?

"A surreal blend of black humour, metaphor and gritty but exquisitely executed urban squalor, which for all its ingenuity never loses the soul of its story." (The Sunday Business Post.)

I didn't get this story at all

I'm just going to say that I didn't get this story at all. Luckily it was a short story, so when I finished it and felt utterly confused, I decided to listen to it again. Sadly I just really didn't get it, even the second time around, so perhaps it was just me and the metaphor escaped my mental grasp. This did read more like poetry (not my strong suit) than a short story and I felt the halting, strange way the narrator decided to narrate this story just added to my confusion and I did not like it at all.

I really struggled to get a grasp on the story

The staccato delivery by the narrator made the story very difficult to follow. I had to really concentrate to keep up, which I don't really want to do when listening to a book. The story was good.
