Great Story, Great Reader!!

I have thoroughly enjoyed all of Nelson DeMille’s work, and this book doesn’t disappoint. And Scott Brick is a fabulous reader. I highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed this audiobook, and I generally don't have a problem following characters, but there was quite a few in this so that on occasion I was like who is that person? This audiobook I feel like I could go back and listen to it again, and glean more from it. Nelson DeMille's books are always so informative, though, and I always learn a lot along with the story. I was curios to look up Babylon after this book. I had just listened to Spencerville by Nelson DeMille before this one, and I, personally, liked Spencerville more, but this is a good book, too.

Good story, a bit far fetched, but lovable.

Absolutely, have about five of his now, excellent writer.

Should Have Flown Coach

What did you like best about By the Rivers of Babylon? What did you like least?

Why did they build two Concorde SST's to fly the Israel Delegation to the Peace Conference? They should have just randomly booked coach on a commercial airline, and none of this would have happened.

Would you recommend By the Rivers of Babylon to your friends? Why or why not?

No. It plods along extremely slowly delving into details and tangents that impede forward progress in the Plot. I suspect this is the Author's Style.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Actually, he did a good job.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Impossible to condense into a 90-minute movie and keep anything much from the Book.

Comment on the vocabulary used.

Enough using the Lord's name in vain! We were disappointed that Mr. DeMille could not find better vocabulary! We are hoping his other books are better or we will need to move on to another author.

Excellent

This is a really good audiobook performance of a really good novel. I was very happy with the performance of the narrator, Scott Brick. It is an action packed story with many characters. Thus I did find it slightly difficult to keep track of every person. That was the only drawback. I did purchase an actual copy to read after listening to what was for me, complicated passages. There were also some foreign words that I wanted to read and research. Obviously not everyone will be concerned about those matters. Thank You…

This story has potential

I'm a big fan of Nelson DeMille's work and this story has great potential. However, it gets bogged down in minutia and rambles on and on in philosophical discussions. At points, it's great then another LONG philosophical discussion takes over and you are left with pointless rambling for what seems like hours. I thought it would never end.

Brick does an amazing job but the story dragged.

the plot was weak, the dialog was tedious and there was no action till the end.

an excellent story. It's well written and the audible version made my trip to Medford fly by. I recommend it highly.

Good...but predictable.

This was not my favorite Nelson Demille book. I did enjoy it however , just not as much as his othets.
