Publisher's summary

This book has since been republished with updates. This audiobook is based on the original edition.

Trent Caldwell is the CEO of Caldwell Enterprises. He was the most arrogant, impatient, and rude man Brianna had ever met.

Yet she finds herself madly attracted to him.

At first, Trent didn't give Brianna a second look. The young woman who wore her hair like a 50-year-old, clothing that didn't fit her body, or compliment her natural coloring, and honestly had no idea of just how attractive she could be. But that all changes when Brianna fills in for Trent's personal assistant. With a little help from a popped button, Trent soon finds himself intensely attracted to her.

She is nothing like the platinum blondes he usually has draped on his arm. She didn't just want his money or fame. She wanted him.

But as his employee, she couldn't let it go any further—she needed this job too much.

Despite her reluctance, the attraction between them is unstoppable and after an unprotected night of passion, they are both left with many unanswered questions.

Trent's unborn child reveals a side of him he never knew he had. But when an old business rival returns seeking revenge, Trent, Brianna, and their child find themselves in extreme danger..

Bad performance

Very hard to listen to this. Narrator doesn't change her voice much at all. Alright story but is a cliffhanger so it leaves you hanging.

Good

This was a good story...but it is missing something.... and ending. Now that I read the title again... I see that there are more than one book in this series.... I liked what I listen to so far though...

Good sale.... maybe save your credit... not worth a buy.

Intriguing

This was a wonderful sTory full of mystery, humor, sensual play. I loved the moment Trent realized Brianna was talking with Marco.

I wanted more show, less tell!

So, this was interesting but way too short. The first day is pretty nicely detailed, but everything else seemed like it was on fast forward. I prefer books that show rather than tell events after the fact. I want to see the romance happen.

This is a mixed narrative, you get both leads and a few bonus POV. While I like this, it does feel a bit choppy at times. Going from one voice to another is quick shots does not make for smooth transitions.

Brianna seems sweet, but I wanted to see more of her sass. I would have loved a scene where she loses her temper. Trent is a typical billionaire type. I really wanted more from these two. More story would have helped.

It is an insta love kind of romance. Not the most believable. Again, if it were a longer read things could have built and progressed more naturally. I just wasn't buying into this, not so quickly without seeing the interactions.

This is an open bedroom book, nice detail, but not as involved as I expected. It was spicy but not scorching hawt.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Dawn Ann Billings, who has a nice read. Her pace is steady, but I like things a little quicker, I punched it up to double speed and things were great. Her characters are distinct and the men are just deep enough to be masculine, without being over done. The read is a but stilted on the regular speed, it is part pace and part the choppy writing. She is a newer narrator for me, my ears will need a few more listens to decide how they feel. I gather she is newer, so this might just be the growing stages.

For the most part I enjoyed the story, I just wish there were more of it to be read. This does end on a cliffhanger. The romance part is settled, but a major even occurs at the end, leading into the next book. I was annoyed at the abrupt ending, but curious enough to pick up the next book right away.

*** I hope this review was useful to you and helped your decision to read or not read this book. I love reading and sharing my opinions with other readers. I listen at double speed; all my impressions of the narration are from that setting. Thanks for taking the time to read my review! Good and Enjoyable Book in Ongoing Series

The Hero: Trent Coldwell
The Heroine: Brianna Daughtry

This is a review of the audio version. I read the ebook version first. I enjoy books written by Leslie North and didn't hesitate to buy the audible version (FYI - for books under $11.00, I don't use my credit). And I'm a sucker for almost any pregnancy and baby story - VBG.

We're introduced to Trent Coldwell and the back story of a love affair gone sour and a parent's quest for revenge when his daughter killed herself and blamed Trent. Then we meet Brianna who is a young woman making the best of a bad situation. Her mother is ill and in a nursing home, she's quit college, and is working at Coldwell's company.

Brianna is assigned as a replacement for the CEO's assistant while Pam is out on family leave. So begins the enchantment as Trent is intrigued by Brianna and ends up as only an alpha male can by taking over her life. They fall in love and begin their happily ever after.

This story has multiple points of view which do a good job of not only filling in parts of the back story, but allow the reader to see Brianna and Trent as more well rounded characters. For example, one minor character sees Brianna as a gem in the rough and wants to date her. Brianna, of course, doesn't see herself as anything other than hanging in there while life keeps throwing stuff at her.

There is a bad guy by the name of Marco Bresi who is out to avenge his daughter's death by making life difficult for Trent. Brianna gets caught in this mess and the book ends with some pretty devastating news of what he's done.

This is part of a serial and has a cliff hanger ending so be prepared to go looking for next book which is unfortunately not on audible.

Narrator review: Dawn Ann Billings
A good story teller. Doesn't have a wide range in voices, but does not get in the way of the story.

Just okay

this book was ok for a quick read. the biggest problem is it leaves you hanging. If I had known I would have never bought this book without the companion books to know the outcome. It was fairly short. I did purchase the other books just to find out what happened. Basically, the three books should have been one book since the development of the story lies in the 3 books not the first one. all three books make one pretty good story but the stories on their own, to me does not hold up. I would say here, but do not want to spoil it for anyone else.

where is the rest of the story???

Would you try another book from Leslie North and/or Dawn Ann Billings?

Probably not

What could Leslie North have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

She could have mentioned that is was NOT the whole story only part of the story. It was very disappointing to have the book end where it did and NO mention when the next will be out or the title.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Narrator was ok

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment and anger that is was only PART of the story and not the whole story. I think it is stupid to end right in the middle and then have to wait goodness knows how long for more. I hate it when the story takes multiple books to tell it and really hate having to buy each part. It should all be ONE book and ONE cost!

Any additional comments?

Not worth the cost or credit!!! Skip the audio and read the paperback or kindle versions of this authors books in the series then you may actually find out the rest of the story

What happened?

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Unknown because the story was unfinished.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would have mentioned that the story was a cliff hanger with no mention of when or if the story will be completed.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

State up front that the story was part one instead of leaving the listener hanging.

Any additional comments?

I should have read the reviews first. I usually read what others think of the book and then make my own decision. In this case the summary was so good I leaped first. Big mistake! If I at least knew when the next installment would be I wouldn't be so upset. But it looks like this is the first of a series and the second book doesn't look like a continuation of the first book.
