Beautifully Expressive, Beautifully Narrated!

Would you consider the audio edition of C.H. Spurgeon Devotions from Psalms and Proverbs: Derived from Morning and Evening to be better than the print version?

Yes!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mr. Spurgeon's devotion to the Lord is so sweet and contagious -- narrated beautifully by Mr. Glyn!

Have you listened to any of Christopher Glyn’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes! This one is as good as his other books. He's extremely talented and perfect for this book!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The entire book is moving, I highly recommend it.

Any additional comments?

I hope Mr. Glyn records more Christian audio books. I especially like the devotions with the music beds, so I am hoping the publishers will consider putting music to all of Spurgeon's devotions under Mr. Glyn's narrations. That would be awesome!

Wonderful tidbits that require more contemplation

While I confess I need to listen to this with a more attentive ear, I will also say that this book is packed with several tidbits that sent my mind off on Heavenly topics or into prayers of joy or repentance. This is definitely not a listen once kind of book. I really love it though. A full review to appear in my blog in time.

Great, deep and practical gems for devotion

Charles H, Spurgeon is reputed all over the English-speaking world as the king if all preachers. Though dead, yet he speaks
…Heb 11:4  By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
What a great devotional. Great, deep and practical gems for devotion.
I recommend this devotional. It is biblical, inspiring and philosophically deep. It us practical and spiritual.

Music completely distracts from beauty of the text

The Psalms and Proverbs are some of my favorite parts of Scripture, and there isn't a lot that can take away the beauty of their words--unless it is this version. The addition of background music not only did not enhance this production, but made it--for me anyhow--"unlistenable." Tastes in music are quite subjective and whoever thought it would be a good idea to add music to this audiobook got it all wrong. The ancient and eternal inspired words of David and the Psalmists and Solomon in the Proverbs need nothing added to them; here, the music completely detracted and distracted from the beauty of Scripture. I didn't think I needed to sample this audiobook as I know these passages well--had I done so I would have passed on this book and ordered the print version instead. I will make sure to listen to the samples before making further purchases. Please make sure to mention in the description of the book/title details that music has been added to the narration
