Critic reviews

"The story is exciting and generously laced with humor, but besides those qualities, the characters, planet, humans, and animals, including the playful river and sea otters who befriend the twins, and their interactions are so well realized as to utterly charm readers." (Booklist)

Great segway and midline drama!

The story picks up several years after the original series left off but don't worry if you have not read the Petaybee series, it is a great ride either way! The plot stands on it's own with some elaborate twists. McCaffrey is still as Master at her craft! Ramirez is a full cast in himself!

Twins adventures leaving their home so young

Love the Twins and the dual nature! Great story line and adventures that have a way of turning out to be an introduction to the next adventure

<br />Typical Ann McCaffery with Elizabeth Scarborough.

Always enjoy a tale by Ann McCaffrey, she always puts the science in science fiction and intriguing concepts to think about. The idea of an actual thought of a planet that thinks for it's self is interesting.

Changeling Anne McCaffrey, Elizabeth Ann Scarborough

Excellent, book worthy as all of Anne McCaffreys books. I Never would have read this or the previously three, if not for the Perm series

not like Pern books

I have read all the Pern books and many others- this book was disappointing in that I was expecting something similar to the other books, but this is more childlike. It read more like a children's book than an adult book, and for all I know, is. It was worth finishing, but just was not as gripping as the dragon books that I love.

Wonderful

I loved the characters even the wildly varying cultures. I can't wait for book 2.

Horrible

I am an Anne McCaffrey fan from way back and this book was so bad that I couldn't even finish it.
