About this listen

New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Ryan begins a brand-new series with a western set romance between a former soldier and the mother of his child. Perfect for fans of Diana Palmer, Linda Lael Miller, and BJ Daniels.

They’re tough, tender, and sometimes tormented; they’re the Wildes of Wyoming, three brothers whose family ties are as strong as their wills.

Chase Wilde never expected to fall in love, especially with Shelby Payne. Years before, one passionate night had drawn these two lost souls together. Then Chase left on deployment with the Army, while Shelby raised their baby alone. Now he’s back, a wounded warrior determined to turn his life around. Shelby knows what it’s like to lose everything, including her own family. So she offers him a bargain: if he can prove himself to be the man he says he is, she will let him into their daughter’s life...and maybe even into hers.

Chase knows it will take a lot to prove to Shelby that there’s more between them than the single night they spent together. She’s everything he’s ever wanted, including the voice of reason he needs to reconcile his past and be the man he wants to be for them both. But just as their lives come together, she’s torn away from him by a dangerous person from her past, and saving her means saving himself . . . because he can’t live without her.

Laura B

I love reading romance novels as they are such easy reading and relaxing to take your mind off of everyday problems. Jennifer Ryan dies a great job with intriguing characters, twists in the typical story line and of course the happy ending which is the reason we read romance novels. The performance was well done too. And I love series as the characters grow and places change but still pull you back to the main storyline.

Good story

Would have been better with male and female readers. I did enjoy the story a lot.

Good read. Edgy but simple.

I can say the narrators voice of multiple characters imo was a little off at first but as the book continued it wore on me. Being in the military overseas, I could relate to chase’s struggles and was rooting for him.

Waste of Time BORING!

I waited and read on for some non-expected twist but there was none! No surprises! BLAND! Not worth time or money wasted.

Meh

Predictable.
Ending was good. But I found myself skipping chapters to move it along. I like the concept. I wish it was a little more meat. I don’t know.

Too much porn sex

and foul language. The story I thought was good though. But ruined by the filth. A good book ok should stand well on its writing, story, without the bad language & graphic sex. Much can be expressed without spelling out all that.

Didn’t care for the narrator

The story was good, but I couldn’t get past the robotic voice of the narrator when performing the women’s voices. For me, it took away from the overall enjoyment of the story.
