Publisher's summary

What happens when you lose the person most important to you and are left to pick up the pieces? Mia Gerard had always wanted to be a trained dancer, yet she has just lost the love of her life in a tragic accident. Leo Dancy was her best friend and soul mate. As she tries to deal with losing him, she finds his absence unbearable, and she feels lost without him. But then a great opportunity arises for Mia that she just can't turn down. She is accepted into the New York Dance Academy of performing arts. At first, she is overwhelmed, but once she gets there, she begins to allow herself to heal. This is when she comes across Henry Watson, a painter with aspirations of acquiring his own exhibit one day. While she ponders her feelings for Henry, will she be too late? Or will she find the clarity she needs and chase after him?

Great feel-good, wholesome teen love story!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would. I think it's an easy listen, not too long, not too short, warm fuzzy type story which I think checks the boxes for a lot of people. I wouldn't say it's in my top 5, but I am not wishing for those hours of my life back as I've felt with other books I've listened to. It was certainly worth the listen!

What does Katie Welburn bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She definitely brings the characters to life. I do not have the best imagination, nor do I read very animatedly, which often leaves me forgetting most of the story as I read and absolutely forgetting details later. With the voices and personality Katie gave the characters I was able to really visualize them and connect with them in the book in a way I am positive I'd have missed out on had I just read it silently to myself.

Any additional comments?

I'm writing this review for my husband as this is his account and I got the opportunity to listen to the story :) I actually really liked the story itself, though the ending left a little to be desired. I thought that the characters were easy to relate to and that the author did a good job of describing their feelings and emotions in the book. Katie did an excellent job giving the characters likable personalities and tied the relationships of each together in a way that was easy to visualize and had the book playing almost movie-like in my head while I listened. The reason I didn't rate this higher on the story aspect was due to the ending. I found it abrupt and wished it would have continued since I did like the body of the story so much. If there was a second book I'd gladly give it a shot!
