Publisher's summary

As a mechanical engineer in 1981 Chicago, Connie designs plumbing systems. She has also designed her life to perfection, right down to the man she hopes to marry. But when Mr. Right proposes, she can't say yes. A head-clearing vacation brings her to the Scottish Highlands, where her free-spirited twin wishes for Connie to find true love. Neither sister expects the wish to send Connie hurtling 500 years into the past.

Wilhelm Murray, heir to the barony of Dornoch, hopes to one day hold a seat in Parliament and bring urgently needed reform to Scotland. But everything changes when a woman slated for execution proclaims her innocence using the most peculiar language. Powerfully attracted to the brave beauty, he rescues her even though it means becoming a fugitive and forfeiting his dream.

As Connie and Wilhelm evade capture, she discovers his passion for justice. Scotland needs his ideas. It needs him. And so does she. But in order to clear Wilhelm's name, she will have to turn her back on everything she's worked so hard for and embrace the magic of love.

choosing love

this was a fantastic run thru time, history and full of a growing stubborn love. the choices that are hard but right. The narrator's gift of voicing true emotions and changing from characters, gender and dialect is fascinating and has me looking for all the books she has worked on.

Time travel back to medieval Scotland!

This is a very cute story, and is the 3rd and final installment of the Highland Wishes Trilogy.
All three stories involve an element of magic, time travel, some danger and suspense, and of course setting two people on the path to finding true happiness with one another.

In this book, one twin sister ( Leslie) wishes for the other twin Connie) to find true love and happiness. They do this in Scotland, during the solstice, while standing in a Druid circle. Oh... and Connies wearing a ‘magic’ pendant.
Then WHOOSH, Connie is magically transported 500 years into Scotland’s past... and immediately arrested and lit on fire for being a witch.
She is subsequently rescued at great personal and political cost by a beautiful Highland warrior.
But of course they are chased , and Wilhelm needs to clear his name. Will Connie run back to the future? Or will she stay in the past, fighting for justice, while also learning to love?

The reason I give the story 3 stars is because of the quality of the writing. There is just way to much repetition. The internal monologue of the heroine just keeps saying the same thing over and over and over again. Once you snoozed past those sections, and the story started back up, Ms Gage tells a good tale. So much so in fact that I grew invested in the secondary characters and want to know more about them.
What happened to Connie’s twin sister?

Reader Alert: Great story; wrong order

I made the mistake of reading the 3 books in the order indicated. In my humble opinion, the order of the last two books should be reversed. Book 2 was a HUGE spoiler for this book. Not wanting to be a spoiler myself, I won't give specifics.

Suffice it to say,. if you have not already read the second book in the series, read this one first.
