Publisher's summary

The world is crying out for answers to real problems that they are facing today such as racial and ecological justices. Moreover, young people are tired of religion, but want a deeper relationship with God. How is the gospel of Jesus good news for social and ecological problems for our society? How can the gospel draw me to a deeper relationship with God here and now, and not just save me for heaven? Ephesians 1:10 describes God’s will to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ. Unity in Christ emphasizes that what was broken, divided, and ruptured by sin will be made whole and reconciled in Christ. Unity in Christ means that everything divided will be united as in our union with God; everything that was corrupted will be made whole as in biblical justice; what was destroyed and decayed will be brought into freedom and glory as in ecological justice. Christ-centered unity is a holistic way of looking at our relationship with God, with humanity, and with the rest of creation, the three fundamental union relations. The book examines how Jesus Christ bears upon the three relationships and guides us in our identity as Christians.

The second issue that this book addresses is the church’s witness. More than doing missions and ministry, the Christian witness must come from who we are, the church’s being in healthy unity. The three unions will determine how credible the church's witness to the world. The book examines a Christ-centered union in the church's witness in Korea historically and how it can bear influence in the future engagement with North Korea.
