Having just lost a daughter to meningitis, Mark Twain wrote this book out of outrage toward the Christian Science movement and its founder Mary Baker Eddy. This movement emphasized the effects of prayer on healing the body and relieving sicknesses and other ailments. Although the founder of Christian Science appears to be altruistic with good intentions, Twain saw fraudulence and greed. Using his humor and wit, Mark Twain picks apart the movement in hopes of opening eyes to its falsehood.

Reader has nice voice but doesnt seem up to the mark twain wit. Odd pauses and lame emphases as if he weren’t paying attention.

Reader not quite right

Twain’s sharp mind and incisive wit are applied to another American religion and uncovering it’s deficiencies.

Good book, gets a little bogged down in details sometimes. Listening to this at regular speed would put crack cocaine to sleep…listen to it at 1.5x or higher.

Good review, just speed it up

I really enjoyed the book Christian Science by Mark Twain. He did appear to be a little jealous of Mary Eddy’s Business savvy. This vaguely touches Christian Science and the beliefs and The Bible.
