Predictable but very entertaining

I actually went into this book expecting not to like it but boy was I wrong. The first few chapters felt like a sci-fi version of Ever After (the Drew Barrymore film) but it quite quickly becomes it's own story and I can't wait until my next credit comes in so I can get the next book in the series.

Truthfully there's nothing really special about the writing or the narration. I love this book because it's fun and is a neat take on a story I love. My biggest complaint about the book is that the foreshadowing is about as subtle as a frying pan to the face (You'll understand when you listen/read) and as such the big "reveal" in the last chapter wasn't really a reveal at all. Despite this issue there were some really interesting twists in the story and I'm looking forward to continuing Cinder's journey.

Better than I thought it would be.

I'm not big into futuristic stories but this story line was really good and I found myself wanting to listen to my audiobook all the time.

New twist on a fairytale classic.

If you could sum up Cinder in three words, what would they be?

Surprisingly, very good.

What did you like best about this story?

I like cinderella re-tellings but they can be very similar to one another. This was by far one of the most original cinderella stories I have heard. Dystopia meets fairytale.

What about Rebecca Soler’s performance did you like?

Her inflections. I really enjoyed this narrators performance she was very easy to listen to and told the story well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely!

Any additional comments?

The book sounds weird and I read over the description a couple of times and thought this book sounded stupid but It appeared on a 'teen classics' for teachers so I took a chance. Glad I did! I couldn't put it down, it was a fun listen.

Who Knew?!?!?

An android foot in a hot, red pump? I was hooked. OK, I'm a woman and have a 'thing' for shoes. But it's more than that. This simple, understated picture is irresistible. I just had to know. I've never been happier to part with a credit.

I devoured this book in 2 days. My only complaint is that it ended. I was a bit skeptical when I learned that Cinder was based on a fairy tale. Now I know the idea was brilliant and the execution excellent. I especially like that there was no attempt to disguise the fact that the basis for this work was a child's bedtime story. It took the beloved classic, threw into a time machine and set it on high. Gutsy and successful, Ms. Meyer.

Equally well-deserved praise to Ms. Soler for her outstanding narration. In the audio arena a great story can be ruined by a subpar narrator. No danger of that happening here. This bright, enchanting tale with its crisp, tight narration makes for one tasty read!

Gotta go now....Scarlet awaits!!!

Wow!

I wasn't sure about getting this, but it kept popping up and shown in my recommendations. Maybe it was a sign that I had to get it. I was hooked from beginning to end. I didn't think I would like it or become a fan. I already ordered the whole series that was available before the end of the second chapter.
