About this listen

Private eye Sharon McCone receives an email asking for help from her emotionally disturbed half-brother, Darcy Blackhawk, but he fails to reply to her response. As Sharon digs deeper, she discovers that Darcy sent his message from an Internet café in San Francisco, a city he's never been to before. Sensing that Darcy is in terrible danger, McCone begins a search for him throughout the city. The investigation leads her to the body of a woman at the Palace of Fine Arts, where a witness told her Darcy was headed. As her search widens, Sharon uncovers a connection to an unsolved murder of a young woman who was heiress to a multi-million dollar banking fortune. Sharon must race to solve both murders and ensure her brother's safety, despite the imminent danger that lurks within her own family.

Schmaltzfest

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not this book, but I would recommend one of Muller's earlier stories. I enjoy hearing about the places in the SF Bay Area because I live here and Muller is very true to the place, she must live here. But this book is a disappointment. Many authors get better as they develop a character over many books. I think Marcia Muller is getting tired of Sharon McComb.

Would you ever listen to anything by Marcia Muller again?

I would think about it. This is her most recent book, and it is not really thought out in plot.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No

Good Listen

Love the series, this is a continuation of the last 3 novels. Sharon is getting older and changing just like the rest of us. You will enjoy this book if you enjoy Sharon McCone mysteries. Give it a listen!

Narrator is wonderful

This narrator has really brought this series to life for me. She does all the characters really good. Storyline is fantastic. as always.

Excellent Book

It's always fun to follow Sharon McCone on an investigation and this one does not disappoint. Many twists to this 'cold case' keeps you listening. Well read by narrator.

GOOD ADDITION TO THE SHARON MCCONE SERIES

if you have invested in this series, this is not an addition. it's not one of Marcia Muller's most compelling mysteries but it does advance the overall series.

Terrible narrator voice

I couldn’t even get through the first chapter. I want credit back. Shrill voice not at all how Sharon Mooney would sound. No differentiation’s in tone between characters.

Worst Audio Book

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator used the same voice for every character so that I couldn't easily follow the story. Narration was so bad I didn't finish the book.

I don’t why I finished it.

It was not a great book. Jumped around. Not interesting. I think I zoned out on most of it.
