About this listen

Everything is for sale - at some price.
But what does it cost to buy a country?
One wily Russian general is about to find out.

Imagine The Russia House meets Mission Impossible.

The phone rings and the offer is made, leaving you only seconds to decide. Betray your country or your family will drop dead before your eyes.

KGB general Vasily Karpov is secretly restoring Russia's superpower status by forcing elite Americans into traitorous acts of espionage and sabotage. Meanwhile his greatest coup targets Russia itself, where Karpov is conspiring to capture the Kremlin for himself.

Former US soldier and spy Alex Ferris becomes the first to fathom Karpov’s grand plans. Racing from San Francisco to Siberia in a quest to uncover complex clues, Alex must elude ambushes, assassins, and death from exposure as he wages a one-man war against a growing global threat, and fights the resurgence of the Soviets.

Amazon named Tim Tigner an All-Star Author in December, 2017 and every month since for being one of the most popular authors in Kindle Unlimited.

Great story well written and we'll performed.

Dick Hill will always be the voice of Jack Reacher for me but I enjoyed his narration here as well. Tigner did his usual superb job.

Exciting. Beyond the Possible...Hopefully!

A definite page-turner and well narrated. Very enjoyable read, though a little on the side of needing to suspend disbelief, only slightly. If you like the genre, give it a try. You will get hooked.

Series Inspiring Characters

Appreciated author's notes at book end. Another main character and storyline that hopefully becomes a series to continue the adventure. I've read every novel by the gifted Mr. Tigner; each one totally absorbing from the first paragraph till the end. Each novel leaves me wanting to read another the minute I finish one. So, now the wait begins. And, Dick Hill, who cannot be mesmerized by his aptitude for breathing life into each and every moment of the novel.

Another Unputdownable Thriller by Tim Tigner

What made the experience of listening to Coercion the most enjoyable?

The great plot and the excellent narration

What does Dick Hill bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Life

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and I almost did

Any additional comments?

Coercion is a new unputdownable thriller by very talented author Tim Tigner. The book was just released in audio format, after a revised print edition was released last summer and Mr. Tigner continues his collaboration with award-winning narrator Dick Hill. Since I am a big audiobook fan and Dick is one of my favourite narrators of all times and now he is somewhat retired, I always treasure any new occasion in which I can enjoy his brilliant performances.

The story of Coercion follows Alex Ferris, a former US Army soldier and ex spy as he discovers and after that tries to stop a plot by KGB General Vasily Karpov who wants to bring Mother Russia to its former power by forcing US citizens to betray their country… You’ll be in for a treat as the action is non-stop, the characters are very well developed and the idea behind it all is fantastic and at the same time, terrifying. There were lots of plot twists, a great chase scene through the Siberian wilderness and it even ends with a bang…

I started listening to Coercion in the evening, stopped it late in the night and picked it right up when I popped my eyes open in the early hours of the next day. Tim Tigner is one of those rare writers that will always surprise you with his stories. You think that you know what will happen? Wrong! You think you know who’s who and what’s what? Wrong! He always delivers a unique experience, stories driven by original plots and you will never forget one of his main characters.

As I said above, the audiobook version of Coercion is performed by the great Dick Hill. He does a fantastic job with giving life to all the characters by using different voices and accents and by keeping the action going at breakneck speeds, as it was intended in the first place by the book’s creator. Dick‘s narration also makes it very easy for the listener to identify each of the characters.

Coercion is a great thriller by an always improving writer and the audio version is better than the print one because it is brought to life by one of the best narrators in the Audiobook Industry. Tim Tigner‘s writing reminds me of Tom Clancy and Robert Ludlum. they being two of my favourites authors of all times…

Enjoyed the listen!

What did you love best about Coercion?

Good plot with historical interest (perhaps especially to those of us whose work related to the cold war era Soviet Union...). Characters are not cartoonish, but still extreme enough to be interesting. Dick Hill is an excellent reader.

Worth the listen.

The book took awhile to draw me in, but in the end was worth the listen!

the performance was good, but not my favorite. the accents reminded me of New York not Russia.

This is to remind me: no more Tigner

Tigner is a good writer, but a lazy one who relies on cliches large and small to churn out forgettable and interchangeable pulp, none offensive or patronizing enough in itself to be an insult to a lazy listener, but in the aggregate amounting to empty calories best removed from a healthy diet.

Another Brilliant story

Would you listen to Coercion again? Why?

I find Tim Tigner's stories very original within the genre, well written and fast paced.
Compares to Lee Child very well.

What other book might you compare Coercion to and why?

Any Jack Reacher novel or any of Tim's other stories.

Have you listened to any of Dick Hill’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Dick Hill's voice is different, but then.....he is also the voice of Jack Reacher!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I have come to love Tim's books. I find them refreshingly original in theme and always fast paced.
I am afraid that my reviews might sound like I am a mate of Tim's but I live in New Zealand and only found his books through an Audible recommendation.

Any additional comments?

I have all of Tim's available audiobooks.

A refreshing take on the last days of the Cold War

Tigner impressed me first with his ability to portray strong women characters in Betrayal and broadened my esteem in this book with this nuanced look at a sentient Soviet counterpart from behind the scenes of the dying light of Glasnost. Tigner plays chess with his readers while his own compatriots barely break a sweat throwing tired Chutes and Ladders. Well crafted and satisfying all around.

good story

Good story, but difficult to track at times due to locations and character changes. The middle to end of book was the best and easiest to follow.
