Publisher's summary

Coming Full Circle is a detailed, informative guide on using psychedelics to heal that is intertwined with a deeply personal memoir of the authors own journey of healing. It will empower its listeners with a greater understanding of the true potential, limitations, risks, and nuances to the process of using psychedelics to heal trauma.

With each passing year, new evidence of the immense healing potential psychedelics offer for anxiety, depression, addiction, PTSD, and more emerge from credible studies and research groups. As the excitement grows, so too does the often dangerous misinformation generated by profiteers and pseudo experts. A fierce protector of those who are utilizing psychedelics as a way to heal their emotional wounds and trauma, Shannon Duncan knows firsthand the courage, determination, and vulnerability required to approach emotional healing in this specialized way.

"Coming Full Circle comes at a time when many are considering trying psychedelics as a means to healing their trauma. This book gives an unflinching, realistic look at what treatment resistant trauma can look like and takes the reader on a journey of healing with a raw, painfully honest delivery. It’s a powerful tale of healing emotional wounds and trauma with the help of psychedelics.” (Rick Doblin, PhD, Founder and President of MAPS, Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies)

A Journey Through Healing

"Coming Full Circle" by Shannon Duncan is an insightful book that blends personal memoir with a guide on using psychedelics for healing trauma. The book is divided into three parts, starting with a discussion on various psychedelics like Ketamine, LSD, MDMA, and psilocybin mushrooms, examining their recreational, expansive, and medicinal uses. The second part delves into the healing process, where Duncan shares his experiences and practical tools for trauma resolution. The final part is a deeply personal account of Duncan's journey, detailing his confrontation with and understanding of his traumas.
Duncan's narration in the audiobook version adds depth, with his calm voice enhancing the memoir sections. He emphasizes the need for professional guidance in therapeutic psychedelic use, advocating for personal responsibility and informed decision-making. The book addresses sensitive topics such as child abuse and bullying, requiring reader discretion.
However, the book also raises concerns. Duncan's discussion of consuming psychedelics in combinations, particularly his admission of taking high doses, may not set the best example, especially for novices. His mention of taking 8 mg of mushrooms, significantly higher than the accepted 3 mg, brings up the issue of dosage safety and potential tolerance.
This book, while accessible to non-experts, is not a substitute for professional medical advice. It appeals to a broad audience, including trauma survivors, mental health professionals, and students in psychology and psychiatry, offering insights into the complex field of psychedelic therapy. Overall, the book earns a 4 out of 5-star rating. While it effectively serves as a memoir and guide, the intertwining of these aspects sometimes blurs the line between Duncan's personal experiences and professional advice. The book's dual nature makes it educational yet cautionary for those considering psychedelics for healing.

Fantastic read for anyone curious! Even for those who have worked with therapies!

“One can choose to go back toward safety or forward toward growth. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again.”
Abraham Maslow

The quote the author used is fantastic. It’s been a year since I’ve hired a therapist in this space and it didn’t go well- fear of failing again I had just about given up on trying when I got a serendipitous message about this book.
I am a ferocious reader of biographies, memoirs, self help and historical fiction while walking in nature with my landlords dog. I appreciate when an author reads their own words and tells their story. It makes such an important impact. A big thanks to the author who opened up his own traumatic experiences to bring awareness to anyone who is willing to listen and helping us on our path to awakening. A gifted author for sure and so much more. Choose growth every single time!

Psychedelics

Shannon Duncan in Coming Full Circle wrote his experience in using psychedelics. This involves the use of drugs in psychotherapy. He mentioned that drugs had been used in ancient times, even by shamans to see visions. When you read this book, you will find out how most of the hard drugs listed in it can be used to heal people dealing with emotional and mental problems or even traumas. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Psychedilics is a form of emotional healing proces

Many people who pose as psychedelic guides have no clue how to give psychological support during psychedelic use. You will learn about the different kinds of people involved in psychedelic support, such as psychedelic guides, medicine guides, and psychedelic therapists, and what their functions are. You will also learn what to watch out for when searching for psychedelic guides and the right questions to ask to know if the guide is right for you. I will recommend this book to those who are already using psychedelic drugs recreationally, as they will benefit from the knowledge of how to use them medicinally, too.

Very informative and helpful

This book has become one of my favourites. The author is honest, and he clearly explains almost every step of psychedelic therapy. He succeeded in providing the reader with sufficient information. I appreciate his work a lot. I am sure this book will help many people struggling with traumas.
