Story
Learning to program can be a very daunting and intimidating task. I know, I was once in your shoes trying to figure out how the heck I was going to do this crazy thing called code! I remember asking myself questions like where to start, what computer to buy, what language to learn, what books to get, and everything else that went with it. I know the struggle, and that's why I wrote this book to streamline the process and answer all those questions for those individuals just like me.

The field is growing strong and companies are headhunting coders. But even if you don't want to become a professional coder, programming skills increase your salary in other fields such as marketing, finance, and business analysis. Several studies have shown that programming skills added more than $20,000 to the annual salary.

The grid is an accident of history and of culture, in no way intrinsic to how we produce, deliver and consume electrical power. Yet this is the system the United States ended up with, a jerry-built structure now so rickety and near collapse that a strong wind or a hot day can bring it to a grinding halt. The grid is now under threat from a new source: renewable and variable energy, which puts stress on its logics as much as its components.

On May 31, 2014, in the Milwaukee suburb of Waukesha, Wisconsin, two 12-year-old girls attempted to stab their classmate to death. Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier’s violence was extreme, but what seemed even more frightening was that they committed their crime under the influence of a figure born by the internet: the so-called “Slenderman”. And a growing mountain of clinical research correlates screen tech with disorders like ADHD, addiction, anxiety, depression, increased aggression, and even psychosis.

How should companies set strategies, governments design policies, and people plan their lives for a world so different from what we know? In Prediction Machines, three eminent economists recast the rise of AI as a drop in the cost of prediction. With this single, masterful stroke, they lift the curtain on the AI-is-magic hype and show how basic tools from economics provide clarity about the AI revolution and a basis for action by CEOs, managers, policy makers, investors, and entrepreneurs.

I liked it, but
I mostly enjoyed the narrators voice. he has good sound quality and is easy to listen to. He also brought life to the work he read. The author has good story telling abilities as it was enjoyable to listen to. Though the history lesson on origins of words or even the origins of informatics came about seemed seemed a bit useless. However, my favorite part was teaching us some simple step by step instructions towards the end of the audio book. That made me enjoy this book more than anything.

Is this book a scam? I listened for an hour and it was just a bunch of definitions with no context. I see that there are some reviews that give five stars. I do not believe those are real people, I bet they are Review robots.
I am angry that I paid for this book since the price was so low I figured I would keep my "Audible Credit" for a more expensive book. and now I can not get a refund. This book is Crap. a waste of your time.

Written and Read by AI?
Even if it wasn’t written and read by AI, it certainly seems that way. It reads as a poorly informed Wikipedia article on the history of computer science. But it’s barely more than a list of facts laid out in loose chronological order.
The narrator was also difficult to listen to but I think did their best (if they are human) with the material they had. Or if it’s AI narrating, it needs some work.
