Laugh Out Loud Funny

Thoroughly enjoyable, I absolutely recommend this book. Well performed, well executed, and with a final twist that will blow your socks off. I do caution, it reads more like a short serial rather than a complete novel, with what feels like story climaxes sprinkled regularly throughout. I would love to see it as a graphic novel; I bet it would do well.

I love Sci-Fi and Fantasy....Epic and others books but this is the shortest book I have listened too...ever. But this is a must listen too if you like Super Hero's. Fun.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Jeffrey Kafer performed excellently, however Talmadge Ragan really let the production down by slurring words and frequently messing up expression. Fortunately most of the book is Jeffrey.

Nice Change of Pace

I was looking for something light and a little different. This book fit the bill perfectly. I enjoyed comic books as a kid but was not sure how interesting a novel about superheros would be. I will say I was pleasantly surprise.

super heroes & villains & everything in between

Origins and Confessions should have been combined as one book. Instead Confessions was released first making you start at the middle of the story. Lucky I started with Origins and it gave me a good flow of the story and it is a good one. This superhero origin story told from the point of Cal is witty, humours and sarcastic. The plot does not surprise but the characters are well crafted and grow with the story. A must have for every super hero and comic book fan.

Yes, this was an awesome listen. Aside from being a funny book it makes you feel for the main character.

What other book might you compare Confessions of a D-List Supervillain to and why?

The closest I could compare it to is Ex-Heros and Ex-Patriots and as much as i like those both this one was better.

With out giving away some of the book, the first detox scene.

Very well written and preformed spectacularly by the voice artist.

Gotta love the socially awkward super villian

While the ideas behind the story were probably more powerful than the story itself, the audio book was still very entertaining to listen to. The story is mostly about a petty guy trying his had at shaking his bad habits that got him into a life of super powered crime in playing as a hero for a while only to comically discover that not only is he flawed, but so is everyone around him on both teams.

While the events in the story are over the top. The author almost manages to get a real message out there about how making mistakes and being flawed is a part of human nature and how we handle it can make all the difference in who we are down the line...but there are some bits that dull the strength of the theme towards the end when the main character, Calvin gets darker than the story really required.

So while it could have been a masterpiece, it wasn't quite as brilliant as I felt it could have been. Still it was a fun read and the antics of Calvin attempting to find his place in the world was laugh out loud funny. It was totally worth the purchase.

There were a couple of novel concepts towards the end of the book. I did enjoy the character arc of the main character Cal as well.

What does Jeffrey Kafer and Talmadge Ragan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He's got a decent voice which doesn't put me to sleep like some others.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"Every dog has his day."

Although a bit slow in the beginning, it developed into a fun read. A good way to kill the time.

It's a very funny book, generally fun and interesting. Don't expect too much but I certainly enjoyed it and have gone back to listen to it again.
