Do not mess with Sabrina!

Cookies with a Side of Murder: Daley Buzz Cozy Mystery Series, Book 5 by Meredith Potts, narrated by Lisa Beacom is my favorite listen of the series so far! I couldn't stop listening...it's so engaging! In Book 5, Sabrina is collecting information, interviewing everyone, and trying to get to the bottom of her sister's disappearance that occurred 10 years ago. I don't want to give anything away, but I will say that with every new piece of information, the plot grows deeper and deeper. Filled with hidden surprises, hidden agendas, and hidden truths, this is one good storyline!

Lisa Beacom again brings the life to the characters in the way only a true narrator can. She does a great job. If I had critique anything it would be in how she ends each chapter. I sometimes wasn't aware that the chapter had ended - I just thought it was a long pause. This was because she read the last line of the chapter in the same tone that she read the rest of the story. For example, if the last line was dialogue, she didn't make it evident in her voice that the chapter was ending, and sometimes I was waiting for the other character to respond. I only realized it was the next chapter because it was indicated after her pause (Chapter___). However, this did not take away from my overall enjoyment, so I didn't think it was fair to take away a star.

Cookies with a Side of Murder is by far my favorite of all the books I have listened to so far by Meredith Potts. Although I find it a bit unbelievable that the authories would allow Sabrina to take the lead in the investigation (even if it is her police officer boyfriend), this is a cozy mystery, the sleuths that appear in these books are not to be messed with! :-) I don't think I would be able to emotionally handle investigating my sister's disappearance, but after 10 years, I'd want to find out the truth, too!! I rate this story a 5/5, and I recommend it to cozy mystery lovers everywhere. It is well-written, enjoyable, and at just under 4 hours, it is a perfect weekend listen!

Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. :-)

Investigating with cookies!

After listening to the first four books, I found that I have been taken with these characters and couldn't wait to listen to this one. With so much going on in this little town, when David is called to see a body dug up in an empty lot, it's only a matter of time before Sabrina is on the scene wanting the details. But these are details she is not ready to hear. Once she finds out what this case entails, she and David are off and running, trying to solve a cold case that hasn't had a lead in 11 years. These two work so well together, a little good cop, bad cop at times, but the truly raw questions that Sabrina always brings up makes the suspects squirm and makes each one a viable culprit. I love the way Meredith Potts write these cozies, with a touch of humor, the warmth of family and the feeling a whodunnit til the very end. And this one is so satisfying giving closure to all affected by this one.

Continued narration by Lisa Beacom keeps the story going with her voices. I love that in each story, she uses the same voices for each character, so as we get to know them, we know exactly who is speaking. She really gives the story a feeling of familiarity for a great listen.

Sabrina Solves Her Greatest Mystery

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Another great cozy mystery by one of my favorite author. This 5th book in the Daley Buzz Cozy Mystery Series, is the culmination of a personal drama that has been consuming our amateur sleuth Sabrina. Together with her boyfriend David, she follows the clues to solve a murder investigation that brings back memories of her sister's disappearance. This trail brings them to solve that cold case as well, reopening wounds that have never properly healed. There are two mysteries that are unveiled throughout the narration and though similar, each one has a trail of its own that needs to be followed.
Because of the protagonist's personal drama, this is not one of the "coziest" of stories, but the listening experience is still an enjoyable one. Wonderful writing and exceptional narration makes this audiobook a must on your listening list.

Great series.

Another great story in this series. This is my favorite so far. While a construction company was digging, a skeleton was found. It turns out it is Sabrina's missing sister. She is victim of murder. Sabrina is determined to help find out who killed her sister and why.

I am glad that Sabrina and family finally have closure concerning her sister. As always, the narration for good. I recommend this book and this series,

Best mystery so far, emotional story too!

Cookies with a Side of Murder (Daley Buzz Mysteries #5) by Meredith Potts is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary. I found this the best book so far! I loved the mystery, the emotional side, and the fact it was close to the main character. By now I feel close to these characters and it was emotionally for me to know what they were going through. It was a good mystery and I guessed wrong, again! I am not a good investigator...lol
The narrator did such a wonderful job especially during the sad scenes... almost mad me cry! Great performance throughout!
Wonderful cozy mystery series and it is clean!

BEST YET FROM THIS SERIES

COOKIES with a SIDE of MURDER is the fifth book in the Daley Buzz Cozy Mysteries. While each will probably stand on its own, it’s probably best to read each in the order of release.

The best release yet in this series. Ms. Potts has really grown as an author and it shows!

While still a good cozy mystery for teens, there is plenty of suspense and intrigue to keep this adult on the edge of her seat and holding her breath in many places.

I love David and Sabrina together. Their romance is on a slow burn and I continue to hope for a ring for Sabrina.

Narration: Lisa Beacom did a much better job of slowing down and enjoying the story herself. That allows the listener to enjoy it too! Thank you for bringing out all of the emotions.

Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
