About this listen
As the famous permaculturist Bill Mollison said, “Though the problems of the world are increasingly complex, the solutions remain embarrassingly simple.” And permaculture goes a long way toward this; it's a way to use natural systems and processes to help you get the most from your garden in the most efficient way possible, with nature doing most of the watering, fertilizing, and pest control for you.
In Creating Your Permaculture Heaven, you’ll learn:
- The main principles of permaculture
- How to make use of every bit of water that is given to us
- Why humans wouldn’t exist without soil and how we can provide it with the nutrients it needs to grow all our delicious fruit and vegetables
- How to keep those pesty slugs away from your lovely green vegetables
- Which plants work well together and which hate the sight of each other
- How you can realize your dream of having your own food forest with your favorite fruits and veggies
- How you can reap even more rewards from your garden to give you a little extra pocket money
- How to attract bees to your garden or even make honey
And much more!
As a free bonus, there are some fun exercises for you at the end of each chapter to help you put what you have learned into practice!
You may think you don’t have the time or the money to start a big permaculture project. But permaculture doesn’t need to be overwhelming. You can start as small as you like, and you can move at a pace that suits you. Don’t feel you have to learn everything in one go and rush out to transform a whole wilderness in a year. Just deal in manageable chunks, and you’ll do just fine.
Even if all you have done is tend to a few tomato plants on your window ledge, you can become an expert gardener; all it takes is a little time, patience, and practice. And remember, we have all made mistakes along the way.

Compared to Charles' other books, this is more about no dig, eliminating weeds, garden layout, compost making, and using compost. There is also a history of no-dig vegetable gardening in the last 100 years. I want listeners to understand the context and the reasons why no dig has not been much valued until recently, and why it is now. This audiobook has 18 sections, covering the key methods and wonderful results of no dig, from starting with weeds to sowing and planting straightaway, and cropping soon after.

It's like thinking the unthinkable. After all, the farm population is dwindling. It takes too much capital to start. The pay is too low. The working conditions are dusty, smelly and noisy: Not the place to raise a family. This is all true, and more, for most farmers.

Fossil fuels and livestock grazing are often targeted as major culprits behind climate change and desertification. But Allan Savory, cofounder of the Savory Institute, begs to differ. The bigger problem, he warns, is our mismanagement of resources. Livestock grazing is not the problem; it's how we graze livestock. If we don't change the way we approach land management, irreparable harm from climate change could continue long after we replace fossil fuels.

An in-depth intro to permaculture
This audiobook provides such a great in-depth explanation and introduction to permaculture. It goes through the best efficient and cost effective ways to utilise your garden and create a personalised food forest. I also really enjoyed the free bonus exercises to help consolidate what I've learned and use my newfound knowledge into permaculture to help others, particularly my nana.

Such a fun book!
This book is so much fun! Learning the ins and outs of how to create a beautiful permaculture garden through storytelling made this book enjoyable to listen to from beginning to end. A lot of things that we think are helping our progress turns out to be hurting it and vice versa. I recommend this book to anyone looking to design a permaculture paradise!

I can't wait to do this!
I'm a really keen gardener and just about to move to a bigger house with a bigger garden. Given the increased cost of living and environmental factors I feel it's so important to become more self sufficient in our own food and not eat mass produced fruit and vegetables if I can avoid it. This book is full of useful info and facts that have made me feel so much more confident and knowledgeable. I've heard about permaculture but now I understand it so much more! I now know just how important the quality of soil is and how it will affect the garden. I also really like the chapter on how to make money from your garden. Great book all round and I loved listening to it!

Such A Great Book!
My wife and I just purchased our first home and we want to start a garden right away. We are both vegetable lovers, and this book is the perfect guide for us. Not only does this book provide a mountain of good valuable detail, but it provides the healthy way of growing your own food, which is what I wanted.

Plant your own. Reap your own. Eat your own.
This is the kind of book that makes you grateful for the people who write books. So much knowledge that is more needed than most civilized societies would like to believe is compiled and carefully categorized to help you in one of the most frightening situations in First World countries: "But what if the grocery store doesn't have what you need one day?" In our current state of record-setting inflation, supply-chain chaos, and food shortages bordering on full-blown recession, it is books like this that are truly worth spending just a few dollars on for the good of yourself and your family. We all need to eat, and we have gotten far too complacent about where our next meal is coming from. Turning back the clock even a few decades is not the terrible thing that so many people would have us believe. There was a strength and knowledge in the past that helped save lives and build the advanced society that we enjoy today. But we cannot expect that society to be self-sustaining. We need to get back to nature, get some dirt on our hands, and watch our own food rise up from the ground. Truly a fantastic book. Listen to it, get a physical copy for your bookshelf, and gift it to a friend. My highest recommendation.
