About this listen

Argoth and Shim have only a short season before Mokad comes to annihilate them. If they're going to survive, they will need to raise an army of dreadmen and fell-maidens and train them in the lore.

Argoth sends out a call to Groves throughout the western lands and begins to train Talen, Sugar, and 30 others. But Mokad isn't waiting. Mokad has already sent an armada with armies from four glorydoms. It has also sent its Guardian - a terrifying Divine everyone thinks is a sleth ally, coming with an invitation from Argoth himself to join Shim's men.

Outnumbered and outmatched, humankind is about to lose its first chance in an age to fight against those who enslave them. Unless, of course, this new Grove can find a way to do what no other has ever done before.

It just keeps getting better!

Wow, what an incredible series! I would say that it easily compares to both "The Wheel of Time" and "The Stormlight Archive." If you liked either one of those you'll be right at home here. :D

Good book

This book has a lot of characters so it can get confusing, but it's a good book anyways. I have been getting into these books lately to escape this world and this one really does take you somewhere else. I don't think it's the absolute best book ever and at times yes you can get lost in the details, but the story is good and entertaining and lots of action. It's really good to listen to.

Enjoy

No time for a breather

Those, like me, who nervously thought book 2 would take many chapters before an adrenaline rush would begin to take hold will be pleased to learn that there will be little time to rest before the pace picks up, as the true manifestation of the malevolent players of the dark arts begin to reveal themselves and display their cruel and bone-chilling methods of harvesting towns of souls almost with impunity. There is also ample an amount of intrigue and betrayal to sate the appetites of even the most fantasy-aware readers.

John D. Brown again create an amazing mixture of sadness, exhilaration, deep anguish threaded with thin strands of hope against impossible odds and constant fear of impending doom. Alex Wyndham excellent narration skills regulates the emotional rivers of the telling to always keep the listener ever hopeful but knowingly one misstep from ill-fate.

If you liked book 1, you'll be even more pleased with book 2.

A very enthralling tale.

The continuation of unraveling an ancient woven story is spreading and the characters are becoming more aware of their theological dagma. It's hard to stop listening.

This story adds and weaves in more characters, over a matter of weeks and unfortunately it is an in between arc that leaves you hanging for the next book.

The first book carries through with a goal this one leaves you wondering what goals are and if they could be attainable by the characters. It's like a part one of two. Where the first book stood on it own; this one seems unfinished without the next. Like the author/editors/development team split it in an odd place for an arbitrary reason; probably to sell more books.

Story Gets Better

If you could sum up Curse in three words, what would they be?

Fun, exciting, adventure.

What other book might you compare Curse to and why?

Maybe The Silent Tempest series from Michael G. Manning.

Have you listened to any of Alex Wyndham’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, The Silent Tempest series from Michael G. Manning. It was after listening to these books that I looked for other books narrated by Alex Wyndham. Both series are well narrated.

Any additional comments?

This book was a good sequel to the first as thing really got moving, and the action picks up. A few new characters are added including a new bad guy who gets some action as a protagonist.

Overall I'm liking this series so far, but could still use some more world building.

Brilliant

It just gets better by every turn of the page. Sleep is overrated, I have to start listening the third book right away.

Fun storyline. Lots of twists, turns and a bit of mystery. A variety of interesting characters and a lots of action.

The narrator is one of my favorites. I actually found this series by looking for books narrated by Alex Wyndham.
