Publisher's summary

Don Drake is living rough in a sink estate on the outskirts of Edinburgh, doing cheap spells for even cheaper customers while fending off the local lowlifes. Six months ago, Don fled from London to Glasgow to track down his old girlfriend Debbie the alchemist.

With the Burned Man gradually driving him mad, Don meets with an ancient and mysterious tramp-slash-magician, with disastrous consequences. Now his old accomplices must step in to save Don from himself, before he damns himself for good this time.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!

One of the best series in this genre. I am so glad I started this series, it's absolutely stunning. Very original from the other books in this genre. Don Drake is a vey interesting protagonist. He have his flaws and uncertainties but he manage to overcome them. He meet all kinds of characters, some help him out at times and some become his his enemies. I have collected the first three books published by Audible and I am waiting anxiously for the next book to see what awaits Don Drake and his allies in purgatory. Very well writtenby Peter McLean and excellently performed by Mark Meadows.

So much swearing

There’s a good story hidden inside the profanity but any word repeated that often becomes tedious.

Another amazing installment in the series!

I'm loving the drake books more and more. I sure hope Peter McLean keeps adding to the series. Mark meadows was back for the third time and did a great job narrating as usual.

Junkie noir goes bad

The repetition (come to think of it, you know what I mean, oh joy, diabolists go to hell Don).
The F bombs and C words.
The grunge of living the junkie life … for the first half of the book.
The incoherent mystery in the second half.
The lack of any climactic battle.
The lack of any fun.
The lack of any interesting characters.
The lack of any redeeming actions or good deeds.
The cliffhanger ending on steroids and book 4 nowhere in sight.
I’m pissed to have slogged the whole way through to the non-ending, even with the dirt cheap price.
