Publisher's summary

This original and refreshingly different dramatisation follows Dante, "lost in a dark wood", who is met by Virgil, who takes him on a tour of the underworld: a place he could end up if he decides to take his own life. Corin Redgrave is the voice of Dante.

Dante's Inferno

It was interesting but hard to follow. The narrator made it hard to figure out who was talking and made it kind of confusing.

Hell? What's that? Let Dante show you!

Would you consider the audio edition of Dante's Inferno (Dramatised) to be better than the print version?

This is one of the few books recorded in a dramatized format and it's well worth the listen! The actors and sound effects pictured the journey in a great way and induced me into another reality, one created by Dante. If you enjoy one narrator this recording has 4 AND a supporting cast. It depicts the journey in the way Alighieri pictured it in his mind, spooky.

Any additional comments?

This is the base of Dan Brown's "Inferno", both authors are very descriptive and very creative. If you're going to buy Brown's new novel or have this poem but haven't bought "Inferno" it's a great companion! The mystery of death, the sequence of life, the journey taken to unmask it all is a book you'll enjoy as much as I did; another great novel by Brown and a definite classic by Alighieri.

Dante's Inferno

Humans boiling in human feces eternally.

Boy God sure is a barrel of laughs.

Good soundtrack to play on your front lawn during halloween.

Also the source of most of todays "Hell" teachings.

Good work Dante - you scared the bejesus out of everyone who doesn't read their bibles or have spiritual antennaes.

Gripping, intriguing - I wanted more!

Where does Dante's Inferno (Dramatised) rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

JMJ
The dramatisation of this audiobook is quite excellent. I was hoping it was unabridged, but even being abridged the listening did not leave me disappointed. An excellent summary, exciting delivery, excellent story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

JMJ
Actually I did listen to it all in one sitting! I was going to go take a nap, but put that off so I could finish listening! It was worth it.

Any additional comments?

JMJ
I will say that the volume is rather quiet - I had to turn up my speakers all the way - but then i suppose they are not the most high-tech speakers out there, either.
God bless! And read more Dante!!

It'll make you consider your actions carefully...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Dante's Inferno is a masterpiece upon which many other books and lore are built.

What did you like best about this story?

The idea is interesting and the way he creates this world for the reader is excellent! It makes you think about the things you've done - do your actions fall into one of the 9 categories...?

What didn’t you like about Corin Redgrave’s performance?

The performance was great but the sound was horrible in a number of spots, where the background sound effects overtook the narrator. But you still get the gist of the story.

Out of Material -

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

This book could not be more boring. Same conventions in all his books. The back bone of Dontes' was so boring I had to force myself to keep going. I dont mind a history lesson if it is a side note, not the focus.

What was most disappointing about Dante Alighieri’s story?

It was a modification of previous books. He adds a young woman here, a few old friends there , shazaam - new story.

How could the performance have been better?

Reader was fine.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

sleepiness

Any additional comments?

waste of money. Find something else.

Instant Hypnotic-state

I love most translation of Dante's Inferno but this is definitely in my top 3. My only complaint is that it's too short but it has high replay value.
