About this listen

He woke deep within the ground, and the first sensation he felt was hunger. An overwhelming hunger for blood that demanded satisfaction. But as he hunted the dark streets of Paris for prey, a voice called to him, soothing, calming, giving him the strength to control his craving.

Francesca Del Ponce was a healer, a woman who radiated goodness as powerfully as the sun did light. But surely his obsession with her would turn him as his twin brother had turned, leaving the world with two monsters instead of one.

The BEST book of Christine Feehan!

First: this is the BEST book of the series, i’m sure about it. I doubt it I’ll find a better book on the series... To be honest, when I discover about Lucian and Gabriel’s story in book 05 (Dark Challenge), I was crazy to listen this one. Wherever I knew I couldn’t jump any book or the story won’t make sense.
I won’t write about the story to not do a spoiller... but I can say this: is impossible to believe Lucian is a vampire, but Christine Feehan mades a super job, and you wil start to think the world, everything was/is unfair until the final... when finally the inevitable comes... oh God!
trust me, Worth each precious second... The only problem is the narrator.
I totally dislike him. On my opinion, a ancient one like Gabriel and Lucian deserved a someone better to do the job.No, no, no... horribel narrative. Don’t go!

Great story but awful narration!

I️ love the Dark series! Every story I️ read, or listened to, did not disappoint. This is my second time going through from the beginning (Dark Prince), some books I️ have read paperback & others I’ve listened to audible. This time around I️ decided on all audible..... big mistake for this book. The narrator seemed so dry and monotone through most of the book. Definitely not good for a romance. I️ had to force myself to focus only on the story, and not the voice. Can this book get a redo?

Love the Dark series and Feehan

A few things: The narrator mispronounces the name “Lucian,” about 97 times....and it made me cringe every single time. So that was a little aggravating. Also...the narration in these stories is soo important - Gabriel & Lucian are quite literally legends in the Carpathian world...their stories should have been told by someone who could give them dark, deep, sexy voices...so I was a bit disappointed there. I personally love these stories, but you have to dig a very masculine, possessive, jealous, domineering type of man to get into it. If that’s in no way sexy to you or if you’re not open-minded...this series is not for you. When I was reading the 1st Dark novel with Mikhail & Raven, I was at first like...if a man tried to talk to me like that and rule over me in such a way, I would respond with violence....but I quickly realized that these aren’t stories depicting relationships between human men & women....these are Carpathian males NOT men, and they have their own customs, culture, and experiences - they should be respected for their own beliefs...they can certainly be controlling, ruthless, and single-minded regarding their women, but the line is never crossed into violence...and those things made me more understanding of the differences to my own relationships. After all, if a human man tried any of the stuff these carpathian males pull, I would have to geld him...but if a sexy immortal warrior with immense magical power, whose chief mission in life was to please & protect me, tried the same thing....I might just have to give him a pass...like really quickly!! Thank you Christine - you have made my singleness throughout quarantine slightly tolerable :)!! Shadow Riders series too is amazing!! Jim Frangione narrates the SR series and he is AMAZING. Truly the best narrator I have ever listened to! If you like Dark, go read Shadow Riders stat!!

Enjoyable

I always love the stories! The narrator is what can make or break, and he wasn't the best but he still did a good job.

Book is great but the voice actor not so much.

The book was awesome. The voice actor kept mispronouncing the names which really got annoying.

Another narration disappointment

I love the dark series, but every single narrator so far has been excruciating. I mean come on he can’t even pronounce one of the main characters. Is there no review of the voice work after it’s completed. Ugh distracting I had to work hard to get through this. For Gregory to have such a winey voice instead of a hard commanding ancient male carpathian just didn’t do him justice. Christine Feehan needs to seriously put her foot and insist on better narrators as this really impacts her.

Wow those twins made you more then one shower.

I have read the book, but Lucian is one of my favorites. So I had to get the auto book. I always picture Adrian Paul (the highlander) as the twins. Plus Dakota Flaming as Skyler.

The narration is just fine

I read the reviews before purchasing this book. As a matter of fact, there were so many negative comments made About the narrator, I Almost skipped this book. I'm glad I didn't. I have heard this narrator before And I couldn't imagine him doing A bad job, so I purchased the book. He did A fine job.
The story itself, is much like the others, in this series. However, this one has the twist of A dark twin brother. I believe that you will enjoy this book if you have enjoyed the rest of this series.
